Real? Fake? Cleaned? Really lost on this one reverse looks great but obverse looks polished. Maybe I'm crazy. If you think it's real and original would it make ms 65

Looks extremely fake to me. The surfaces are too shiny to be copper-nickel and the reverse does not exhibit the characteristic weakness in the C in cent.
These are pics of a true mint state flying eagle from the internet.

Detail and font don't seem right. Color is "unreal" for a copper coin. You can guess what I'm calling it...

If it is real, it is the nicest '57 flying eagle that I have ever seen in all my years of collecting.

Compare the feather texture of both coins.

I will say it's fake. The details are too strong and the color is off.

The colors are plainly so juiced in the image that there's no way to tell what this coin really looks like.

Still not convinced it's a fake, though I'm leaning that way, it does however appear to be heavily polished and whizzed. The feather textures are the problem I see right off the bat. The lettering is pretty good, and the wreath is very well done, if faked.

There are certain diagnostics of the OP's coin that scream fake.
Position of bow reverse, tail feathers, reverse lettering.

Well.. if it's a fake, it's a pretty good one.

I don't like the artificially color that has been done to it so, I wouldn't even think about this coin, I would say it has been colored to cover up the devices.

I don't see anything that screams fake. The coin has almost proof like surfaces, but I don't know if is a proof. I know that Snow mentions that the 1857 type of 1856 in early die states have proof like surfaces characterized by sharp strikes and can be confused with proofs. That being said I agree that the color looks artificial and I would probably stay away form this coin.

The surface is a problem, but the bigger issue is with the details of the eagle.

The seller states he bought it yesterday at an auction and is a professional and knows it's real. The only pictures I find that match that reverse are proof pics. He says the weight is dead on. Interesting to see what happens here.
