This one has fabulous die breaks and is a fascinating coin in my opinion. I think it's a VAM 8A but could also be a 1B1. I'm hoping my fellow VAM experts can lend a hand. SsuperDdave, are you there?

8A she is, an early one. Die cracks aren't fully developed.

SsuperDdave... got another one on the way, another 21-D. This one I believe is the 1B1. I'll post it up when I get it and can photograph it.

You guys only talk about Morgans. What about the Peace dollar? The Peace dollar shall rise again.

The Peace dollar will have to rise "once" before it can rise again.
Just kidding. I for one, shy away from the Peace dollar because it is more difficult and time consuming for me. On the upside, it is less researched, and less expensive. My first VAM discovery was a Peace dollar, and currently have one in Leroy's hands for comment.

No worries Jerry... I would suggest perhaps starting a new thread with this one. You might get a better response from the group.

Jerry, in looking at your coin, it might be this one.

Take a peek at the link and do a compare between your coin and this one. It also has similar denticle issues as yours. The break above the S in states looks correct.

It's 1G, and the denticle depressions are so much a part of the VAM it's astonishing to find someone who's aware of the VAM without knowing about them.

Leroy calls it "die damage" without elaborating; I wonder if it's from some sort of die subsidence.
