They are defaced and sold.  But most of the time you don't see the devices left much in place.

I recall seeing dies for sale on the U.S. Mint site years ago... I think it was for Statehood Quarters. But haven't seen anything like that in recent years.

Crack or gouge, I find it interesting because it almost follows the Georgia coast.

I know it's impossible to get a concensus, but just for kicks and giggles, how many think "crack," and how many think "gouge?" I just want to label it as correctly as possible.
