MS-63, not sure if it's a 'high' 9 or not, the tail of the nine is usually up higher than that but, it may be the way the picture was taken.

Not convinced that it is a "High 9", at least not the "High, Far 9" that we are used to seeing...

Very nice rims with a touch of wire edging in the top of the reverse..
The drawn lines certainly make you think about it..
..and in my Ch example..the last 9 is much lower that this one.

The visual alignment really depends if the original picture was taken completely flat. I think the OP's picture was taken at a slight angle (going by the focused numbers and the less focused dot above). I think that's why the one I posted with lines looks "nor here nor there". I think we would need a straight on picture to remove any illusion.

The top pic "in the above 2 photos" certainly has a higher 9 than the bottom pic....very nice..!!

I am still not convinced yours the "High 9" (remember that the 9 has been observed to be in at least three positions - yours is what I would call the "Medium-High 9"). Accounting for the die wear and flatness of the OP's cent at the bottom of the tail,..I would still say "yes" it's a high nine.

With the' highest' of the high 9 strikes, the lower tip of the nine is rounded (blunt). In the others, it appears pointed (sharp)...

Well, it's definitively higher than my random 1929. We'll see if ICCS puts 'High 9' on the ticket, which I believe the coin deserves. Any other grade opinions? I'm out of my element with this series.

This is one of those dates that really needs a good die study... There obviously are more than two digit locations for the last 9, and confusion reigns, just like the 1896 Far 6 large cent.
