It's very rare for "varieties" to cause confusion. It happens as we are seeing here,..but this is the exception.
100's of many other varieties are very well defined if you have the right book. The Haxby site quickly comes to mind as the perfect way to properly ID a variety..if you really want to..
Rob's works are perfect for many large cents also..You can't go wrong with his pics and facts..

After looking at the High 9's I have owned I can pretty much say yours is not a High 9 . More than likely some would call it a Medium 9 that said its a beauty for sure

Its what I call a medium 9 but maybe there is no such coin just me saying this. Here is a scan of a true high 9

Without showing the 4 digits in the above pic,..I can't see the proper perspective. (I like drawing a line across the 4 digits)
The 2 and 9 seem to be tilted upwards on the right side of that photo.. The base of that 2 is not parallel to the bottom of the photo..IMHO...Sure it's a high 9 ..but that pic doesn't work well for me.. ,..

As before, I'm not seeing any marked difference between my coin and other examples pictured here - especially since these pictures are taken at different angles and perspectives. This sure is a ponderous variety. In any event, I paid less than $10 for this coin in the 90s so even if it comes back with no 'High 9', I'll be ahead. Does anyone have an up to date ICCS form they can send ne?

What really would be cool, is having someone who is a master at MS Excel, make a spreadsheet _exactly_ like the ICCS submission forms - so when you hit <print> it looks like a standard typed form, that one could populate and edit in Excel... I could do it, but I would be terribly slow at it...

I would grade the coin as MS 64 personally. I think it's a very nice piece and to hear you picked it up for $10 that's awesome!
For the high nine a lot of people like to make a line at the top of the date digits but I like to make a line that runs across the bottom of the "1" and the "2" ... also going across both of the 9's
In ever high 9 I have seen that has been graded .. the bottom tail of the 9 will be just slightly below the line that is made from the 1-2 digit positions.
I see a whole lot more than just the tip of the tail cross such a line from your coin... however I do agree that it is slightly "higher-set" Hence why there's some people here that call this a medium 9.

SPP...There is a newer form. The shipping and insurance charges have changed.

How about someone tell ICCS to make an auto fill document? I worry that in 20 years all those coins in ICCS flips will lose their integrity as their tracking and databasing are next to none.
BTW - looks like a regular 1929 and not even the high or ultra high 9 like the one SPP has shown before.
