Wow now that is one very uncommon find! That thing would stick out like a sore thumb! Many folks would have no idea what it was. Every once in while over the years I've slipped a few common "oldies" into circulation just for fun. If that's not what happened I just wonder how these come up from time to time and how they got missed? Congrats!Mike

Mike, in the early 70's I ravaged my collection for drugs. Also, in the late 80's, as a night auditor for a supermarket (counting a million in cash each week) I amassed rolls and rolls of Liberty quarters and Mercury dimes, presumably used by people who'd fallen on harder times and used them to buy groceries. If I'd had time during work to inspect pennies, believe me, I would have.

What a find!..that must have been tucked away for many years, and just returned to circulation.

Wow, that is a nice 1889 IHC! Do you think it is MS? I think it is at least EF-AU. About a month ago, I found my first IHC, a VG 1907, from penny searching for The Cent Project. So they are still occasionally out there.

Nice mycrob. Only a bunch of nice wheaties for me while searching for the Cent Project. I know that they're still out there because I've found some nice wheaties. I'd like a pic of the IHC so I can still dream...

If one benchmark for MS+ is "no scratches," then it's up in MS+ as it has not one scratch on it...just a little gunk visible under a microscope.
