If you have decent eyes, you can spot the 1974d DDO very easily, even if the half is in rough shape. You should key off the right leg of the 'R' in TRUST. If you have really good eyes and the coin is in good shape, you can spot some of the other DDO's. Always key off the 'leg'. After the 74d, the 72 is the next easiest, followed by the 71d. The 73d and 77d noticeably tougher. I've never spotted a 73d or 77d with my naked eye but I can see it now that I know what it looks like in hand. Despite everything I've said, I still pull all the nicer 71D, 72, 73d, and 77d to check with the loupe. The 74d is really a can't miss for me.

One more thing, don't forget to check for the 'other' coins with missing initial(s). Most people only look for the 72 and the 80's series no FG. I believe its the 73d and 77d that are listed in my book as potential 'missing initial(s)' errors. I have found a 77d no FG.

I also always key of off the top of the "U" in TRUST for all 72P DDO'S!

That's the first place I look for any doubling.

$17.00 searched today. $7 loose halves + a roll. Didn't find anything notable. I did stop in a new bank today to ask for any halves they had and one of the tellers offered to take my name and phone number and that she'd would call me if anything good came into the bank.

1 proof, 1 foreign, 1 bent, and electric engraver marked up, and a few 40%ers including a first for me. I saw the edge when unrolling the wrapper and pulled it out and flipped it over. My mind locked up for about 10 seconds as it couldn't process a picture of Kennedy + silver + a date that started with 197 instead of 196.

My first 1970D and the last one in the wild I needed to find to claim street cred that my set was built roll searching (although some of the coins in the set came from mint sets but I can claim I at least found a similar one in the wild)

I just need 2 more Jeffersons to fill the album and a 1950D if I want to claim all roll hunting for that set.

Hit 6-7 banks today and none of them had any halves except for one that had $4.50 worth and they were in VERY rough shape. I'd buy a box, but putting out $500 on one just isn't in the budget right now.

Something bad is going to happen to me real soon.

I can feel it.

First I call the hunting store on Monday and they have the hardware in stock I have been waiting for 6 months to get.

Then when I go there they also have the software in stock that I need.

Then I find a 1970D half and a decent by this years standards amount of silver.

Then today I find a George Washington commem (my first silver commem) and some more silver.

If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have no luck so watch out folks if you don't see me posting in the near future.
