their is 453.592 grams in a pound / by 3.11 grams, the weight of a penny = 145.8495 pennies per pound.
Now if you want a pound of copper that is another story.
A penny is .95 copper so .95 x 3.11 = 2.9545 grams of copper in a penny so 453.592 / 2.9545 = 153.525 pennies
to get a pound of copper.
So I guess it depends on what you are selling, a pound of pennies or a pound of copper.

Went to dump some coins today one teller gave me 2 rolls found 13,40%. At another bank a teller gave me this 1942D Walker  |

I get my halves from wells fargo and they get their rolls from a local company. the rolls are pressed but I am asking where is the best to get halves from. I am in Phx. Az.

found 13,40%. Congrats, Trapper! Nice haul. You can remove that green encrustation from the 40% silver halves by soaking them briefly in white vinegar. If you warm the vinegar it will work faster. I've used this technique many times with no detrimental effects to the coins. Since these halves really have no special numismatic value in circulated grades there is little downside risk. If you decide to try it please report on your results. |

I only managed to get 2 boxes to go through last week along with another $75 in loose rolls and coins. The first box was my best box ever with 3 x 90%, including a '41-S & '45 Walker, and 22 x 40% halves.    The next box only had a '91-S Proof and a single NIFC. Out of two BWR I received from a bank I found a '17 Walker, which is my oldest half dollar find ever.  The 1917 is pretty smooth, but you can still read the date and I didn't yet have one for my collection. |
