Back when silver was $30 / oz I had no problem selling them on Craigslist for melt.

Then silver tanked and when it went back up to $23 / oz last fall I couldn't give it away on Craigslist or the sales page here. Silver kept going up daily and I forgot to update my price here and still had no takers for under melt.

I had to resort to ebay and saw other sellers selling rolls for $75 so I listed 2 rolls and only got $60 at auction.

I listed a few more for "buy it now" $70 and eventually sold them but ebay and Paypal took $10 so I still ended up losing out.

IT's your call what you want in the end for them and how long you want to wait to get rid of them.

Two very cool things happened today!

1. I got my phone call from my bank saying my first box of halves I have ever ordered is in! I'll be pickin that bad boy up tomorrow morning!

2. I was able to get my hands on 8 rolls of halves earlier in the day. Here's what I found:

3 40%ers
1 1983 error
1 Presidential dollar stuck in the middle of a roll
4 2001 keepers

I tried posting a pic but the optimizer is being difficult. I'll try again later.

I posted a topic about it in the classic coins section, but I found an 1857 Flying Eagle cent, the find of my lifetime, in a U.S. coin roll. Pretty neat!

I will just go with the counter argument to that better to have love and lost thing or something and say my ignorance of silver (0 found) in boxes is bliss.

What if all you have found lately and sent back are just getting sent back to you and you aren't getting any deeper in?

Just think Like I do, that somehow someone just dumped more into the boxing facility and you have to get them out of the way before you can get to the good stuff.

If everyone stops finding silver in halves, then how will I live vicariously through you? You must find more silver, think of the children!

keep up the good finds arby!

1 box - 1 NIFC

I have a box coming tomorrow. Unfortunately with work, I have to cut back on the coins, so I am cancelling my weekly order of a box - small potatoes - but I just don't find much. I do better with bags of halves. Going to focus on working out with all of the branches with coin counters to get their bags. I have it worked out with two to get as many bags as I want any time I want. I have 4 other branches that used to not sell to me, but now I got one to sell me a bag of halves and I found 18 90% and 93 or so 40% a month or so ago. I think this is the way I will roll.

That can be a problem. One reason why we say do not return rejects to the same branch from which you got them. However, I would go a step further and return them to a different bank (that is, get coins at TD, return them to BOA). It is possible that branches of the same bank share resources.

I believe our Wells Fargo and my Credit Union get from the same service, They both carry the rectangle boxes with the yellow and white rolls. The armored service writes on the boxes with black magic marker what bank they are being delivered. The writing is the same. Also I marked several boxes and they have come back to me through Wells Fargo and they don't take dumps. The third bank I deal with has the small square boxes with the black and white rolls. Those boxes have produced the most silver. We do have some other banks in town I need to check out. I will most likely have to get an account there before they will deal with me. I have to find another place to dump anyway so I don't wear out my welcome. I have raised my boxes to 12 a week and I think I need to spread the dump around.

Four boxes. I found a 1968-D in the third roll, so I thought it might be a good day. I was wrong. That was the only silver. Not a total loss though. I found 10 NIFCs that were still in great shape.
Also:
1971-S Proof
2 1976-S Proofs (Non-silver)
1976-S that isn't silver and doesn't look like a proof either.
1977 Gold Plated with 1960 and 1985 counterstamped

1975 and 2001 Panama Half Balboas. The 2001 has a mintage of 600,000.

If it's a 1976-S it is either a clad proof, a 40% uncirculated, or a 40% proof.

It's a clad proof. It's just not as shiny as it used to be.

Finished another 2 boxes and pulled 1-68, a 2008 Mint roll was in the box and 1-81S Clad Proof. The coin with the heart on it is a coin I marked. The red strip is from a box I pulled all those 64's from a few boxes ago. I put the heart on it to see how long it would take to get back to me. I bit quicker then I thought. If I see these coins from the Wells Fargo boxes then for sure I will have to seek out other banks. I just surpassed the $50,000 mark of searched coins. I have pulled a total of 906 silver pieces, 362-90%ers and 544-90%ers, 47-Proofs, which 2-76S Silver, 202-NIFC, and 6-74D DDO's.
