I have a good relationship with this bank. and they save

great job silver hunter. wish I could do the same.
the best I ever got was a roll marked "Franklins" and two rolls marked "Kennedys" (all 1964) from customer wrapped rolls.

One bank I used to use started charging $5 per box to get halves in order to discourage use of halves, they said that is what they are charged by who ever they get them from (not brinks). So they are now my dump bank...they have to take them as I include them with other deposits (they don't like me anymore).

Box #10: (keepers)

NIFC:

2005 D
2008 P
2010 P

wow that box was really a bust! looks like I should take a break from halves for a while and spend the 3 boxes I have sitting around now and try something else for a while. Bank still didn't know how much they would charge yet for a box, nobody seems to know to be able to tell them.

4 boxes today.

Something must be going on at all of the Chase banks in town because the turnover rate is out of control and the new tellers don't know what they are doing.

Got back to work and 1 box was short 2 rolls but there was an ender. It was only a 40%er. I checked half of the other rolls and no silver so I called the bank to see what they could do for me. Last year I was shorted 4 rolls in a box and they reimbursed me but I don't want to stir the water if I don't have to but these last 3 weeks have been brutal and $20 is $20 not counting how many unknown dollars I may have been shorter over the years by coin counter machines.

I ended up with 2 40%ers and 2 NIFC.

Been a while since I have done any half dollar searching seeing I do not have an account with the bank which ordered them for me before.

I am thinking about hitting various banks and asking for any customer rolls they may have. Last year I did okay doing this and I only went by a few banks. In my area, there are a lot of chains with a lot of chapters.

So I just joined this site yesterday and have been reading through and like this topic. Its so interesting.

About 2 months ago I got 50 dollars in customer rolled. Out of the 100 coins. 48 of them were 40%ers. This was my first silver find while CRHing. I'm hooked. But have not been able to get any of my local banks to order boxes for me. I have gone all the way up to the local branch managers who say they just cant/wont do it.

Any suggestions.

big name banks..ask for head cashier that orders coins, if they say no ask if they could hold halves they take in for you..thats a start if they say we have someone they already hold for get out of my bank location,,lol,,,managers have shot me down I stay away from them

big name banks I find chase will go forward and beyond, if you need an account there ask what minimum amount in act and open one..tell them you dont have direct deposit if you dont want to use them for it..tell them you have a work credit union or something that you have to use because of your loans or something ,,,think of what your going to say if they think your lying your finished

good luck

From a teller's tray, I managed to purchase two 1964 Kennedys. I saw the tarnished look of silver in them, so I knew I'd have something special, yet I thought they were silver clad. I was fortunate enough to snag my first 90% silver halves in a couple of years, so that makes me happy.

I had been getting dollar coin rolls from my bank, and finally convinced them to order me some half dollars to spend on Project 100K. They were supposed to be here Friday, but there was a slight change of plans

A customer came in this morning with a bag of half dollars, and the cashier emailed if I wanted them. I said I will be there between 2-2:30pm. I was ahead of schedule, so I stopped for lunch. I arrived at 2:15pm.

I left a few minutes later with a large bag of Kennedy half dollars (~48 pounds worth). I have spent the last few hours counting, sorting, and putting them in tubes.

So out of 1940 coins ($970.00):
1191 from 1970's
260 from 1980's
345 from 1990's
140 from 2000's
a 1989 with a hole
a 1971-S impaired proof
a 2008-S impaired proof
and a 1968-D 40%er

Time to go spend some

A box of $500 weighs 25lbs including the cardboard.

Let us know how many $ you ended up with 48lbs worth raw.
