I too have been wondering about selling some '74D DDO's, but I've noticed there doesn't seem to be much demand for them on ebay. Not sure just how many of them I have, but I'm thinking probably in the 20-30 range. Unusual, but I've found 3 so far this week.

It was a decision that I struggled with, but 4 weeks ago I stopped searching for DDOs. I found about 2 per week, on average, out of my six boxes. The demand seems so low though, that I just couldn't justify the time it took to sort out the years and then stick each one under the microscope. The hunt for DDOs is just too time-consuming and too boring for me to keep it up. I'd do it if sales prices were better, but it just doesn't seem worth it to me anymore. The first two weeks of not checking for DDOs were difficult. I felt like I was throwing back treasures; however, after those first two weeks I don't even think about it anymore. The searching is so much quicker now...all I do now is pull silver, proofs, and NIFC. I also check for missing initials, but only because that can be done in less than a second with the naked eye.

My total search time for 6 boxes is now about 4-5 hours. Previously, it took over 6 hours to sort, then many, many more hours of microscoping for DDOs.

4 boxes 1 1964 3x 40%. Maybe I'll order 2 boxes of halves next week and 4 boxes of dimes. I noticed this week I ran into a load I had previously searched because I marked the reeded edges with a sharpie on every roll and I saw a ton of marked edges. I knew it was a matter of time til I ran into my stuff again. Oh well. I should get a few boxes next month from Florida when my grandmother returns to NY for the summer.

I make a point to order from a Brinks bank and dump with only Loomis banks/credit unions. I may get somebody else's rejects, but I know I'm not getting my own. :)

The week hasn't been too exciting 3 short of my weekly goal. Not complaining just don't like being short. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. If you are expecting more boxes before the end of the week. Best of luck to you!. Until Next Week!

Just finished my boxes for the week. Finds were 30 NIFC including 1 1987D, 4 proofs, 1973, 1976, 1998, 2005, 5 errors, 3x1974D-DDO, 1x1982P no FG, 1x1983P no FG, and 3x40% silver, 2x1967, 1x1968D. 2016 year to date silver 51.9011 oz. Glad my year started off good, because the last few weeks the silver has really fell off. I think I've missed my 1 oz. per week goal the last 3 consecutive weeks. Hopefully the silver flow through KY will increase again soon.

I don't have a close up of it, but it's the word "TRUST". Most evident to me in the leg of the "R", but also usually easily recognized on the "ST". Since everyone seems to be wanting to sell them, exactly how many do you want?

mahgobbi,
The main reason I want to take them back is I don't want to sit on $5k in change for about a week. I would rather have the cash on hand to pick up more boxes if I get the chance. I have a difficult time turning them in during the week due to my work schedule. My work hours are the same as my Bank's hours. Hmmmmm...if I could only convince them to give me a key so I could use the coin counter at night? I'm a trustworthy guy.

Arby, nice find. A 74-D DDO ender just when there is a lot of chatter about 74-D DDOs. If this holds true, lets start talking about Barbers soon.

I hate to throw them back but it's had to have much demand on a coin that is so easily found in the wild. As other's have said, it's not worth listing them one at a time, knowing I can't sell them in any quantity or for any real profit. I truly don't know how many I have but I'm sure it's a couple hundred, at least. I did start tossing some of the worse ones just before I quite hunting. I didn't find near as many 77d or 73d DDO's but they are more difficult to spot with the naked eye. I believe I also found a couple 1972P DDO's.

I've had good interest in 74-D DDO when I have put up for auction in my local coin club. I've sold several in the $10-15 range. There are believed to be around 100,000 out of the entire mintage of the 74-D.
