AG Coinhunter, Wow great score! I never heard of canvas bags, can you specifically order them? I finally got my bank to order me a box. I just hope these are not the brown and white wrappers I get from another bank, they're usually no good. I have luck with the yellow and white wrappers, but cant find them anymore!

I have a weekly standing order at this bank for 2 boxes. This week for some reason they sent the bags. The teller didnt know why. I spoke with her later and asked her if she could request bags and she said she would try. I would much rather have the bags, its so much easier than cracking open rolls. Plus this bank had limited me to 1k a week and with bags now I am getting 2k. The silver has been good here so far. Also adds to my canvas bag collection I have going.

Strange that this bank is putting a limit on you for quantity of boxes.
I have had some banks tell me they didn't care how many boxes I ordered, just don't bring them back to them!* (These are the one's that have no coin counting machines*)
My regular source allows me to order as many as I want, however, I don't get carried away and keep it reasonable for both parties, but I'd probably be able to order whatever from them also.
Did that bank give you any plausible reason why they are limiting you to $1,000. a week for boxes yet will sell you $2000. in bags?
*Picking up 1 box today from a different bank then the one that I got the loaded box from. Still shopping around for the best buys (LOL).
Getting my regular orders tomorrow.

So I went to another bank, not the one that I have accounts with, and inquired if I could purchase some halves. I was told "Im sorry, we have limited supply and only sell them to our customers". After thinking, if the halves are sooooo rare, maybe I should make them my dump bank? 3 boxes from Wells awaits me today...

i suspect that some banks might be switching to bags because it is less labor intensive and less costly, no need to roll the coins, buy paper rolls, or buy cardboard boxes to transport them in -XoG

The only thing the teller has told me was that they dont have a huge supply of them and had asked to only order 2 boxes at a time. I didnt push it any further figuring I will just slowly tap this supply. When the bags arrived, it supprised me because of what they had told me. I am not complaining, doubles my amout every week. I was doing about 4-5k a week but most have been skunks so I scaled back to only this bank. Besides that bags are so much easier than the rolled coins, just reach in, grab a hand full and sort the silver out. Lets hope the vein stays alive and well... :)

Surprised about the limited supply on halfs.
Who could still be using them in large quantities?
Casino's are mostly all coin-less now with the slots.
Good Luck with the Canvas Bags!
* 1 Box total (from a different source today): ZERO!, ZILCH! ZIPPO!!
I'm finished shopping there also! (LOL)
Hopefully tomorrow will be better from my regular source.

Quote: Who could still be using them in large quantities? Roll Searchers!....Who tell their banks that their business uses them! I've run into a couple of banks that told me they have to keep a certain amount on hand for a business customer. Be realistic....Business's hate it when you spend them at their establishment. (although a few employees might save them) Nobody except roll searchers really want anything to do with them....and when the silver runs out....there will be a mountain of clads sitting in bank vaults Right next to the Ikes!

Hit a mother-load this week! Picked up $370 in hand rolls yesterday, the teller seemed to imply they were not really worth my time...but when I got out to my car and opened the 2nd roll all Walkers and Bens. It kept coming and coming. In the end I had about 29 solid rolls of silver. And 28 of them were 90% coins. Yup, couldn't quite believe it. It included a few semi-key date Walkers - 1919,23S, 27S - but no 21, 38-d or 55. Crazy find, I think there are a lot of people bringing in old coins for holiday shopping as I've gotten four silver dollars in the last two weeks, 2 morgans, a peace and a silver Ike. All from tellers.

That is amazing!! Love to see that silver, it gives us hope and encouragement! My 300.00 in customer rolls today only gave me 1 40%, must have been someone's dump. But I will gladly take the one and Keep On Searchin!
