ratman, I'm going to see my brother at Ft. Bragg this weekend, going to bring some cash and hit the banks. ha ha, you know you have it bad when a vacation or going out of town is "a chance" to try some new banks.

I'm new to the forum. I've been coin roll hunting for a year or so. I live in Grand Rapids, MI (2nd biggest city in MI). there are more then 25 banks for me to choose from. My best finds ever were from a chase bank where I bought $100 in halves and got a full roll of 40% 1968 Halves and a full roll of 90% 1964 halves, and from a Comerica bank where I bought $100 in dimes and got 4 full rolls of 1946-64, they were wraped with old wrapper so I took the two different wrappers back to that bank and asked the teller if she had any other dimes wrapped with these wrappers and she look and gave me 5 more rolls wrapped with them and they were all silver.

It must have been beginners luck because that has never happedend again.

my total for 2009 is
$720 in halves searched
$220 customer rolled found 2 40%ers and 1 90%er
$500 brinks rolled found the rest

JFK 90% = 2
JFK 40% = 16

It is interesting that many of you can find customer wrapped rolls--but after going to about 20 banks in the Philadelphia suburbs, I have yet to get any. The only way to do this around here is to get boxes, although the bag idea is interesting.

I heard that some of the armored carrier pull out silver. Does anyone know anything about this, like is it true, and who, etc?

Also, I assume halves will come in a bag if I order $1000 worth? I'm dying to hit the jackpot on these babys.

Not necessarily! Most of the banks that I talked to about ordering halves tell me that they have to order them by the $1000.00, but when they come in they are in 2 $500.00 boxes.

You made me laugh eaglefoot.

I would say on an average I will find 3 to 5 "keepers" a box. Keepers meaning silver or a proof. I will also keep proofs that are in any condition, even if they are beat to pulp, and any NIFC coins. Also looking to upgrade any coins that I already have.

In addition, keeping EVERY bicentinial coin that I come across by the suggestion of a member when he told a teller that they were rare. You should see the rolls that I have, geez, need a bigger safe! That was awesome when I read that, laughed for 5 minutes straight, and I'm kidding by the way about keeping them. We need more tellers to hoard those.

.... .... That's what I'm here for half the time ! .....Comic relief ! ....

On a side note.....
Yeah, I agree about the bicentennials I've kept about only three or four '76 halves that were just in too good of shape to dump !
