Well known here on the East Coast. Some recent big finds in the CT./MA. area were from pennies in their wrappers.
All of my non-customer wrapped rolls that I purchase from my local bank are from them. Yellow & White for Halfs, Red & White for Pennies.
I live abt 15 miles from harrisburg and I usually get the string boxes when I order nickel boxes......so far the pickings have been decent. I've never gotten any string wrapped halfs. At least if the half dry up I can search 5 boxes of nicks for every bag of halfs.....you can never go wrong finding buffaloes. |

All I seem to get in Tampa are Brinks rolls.

I agree, when I get tired of the halfs by the end of each week, I usually buy a $200.00 bag of nickels and a few $50.00 penny bags, if available from the coin counting machine, keeps me going over the week-ends into the new week.
I've done pretty decent with it.
I found a 1915 S Buffalo, well worn, but at least it was a nice find.

Have any luck with the Brinks halfs?
I gave up getting Brinks halfs from a different bank up here since I was not finding anything and a few times the rolls were wrapped but missing a few coins on the ends!
You could see where someone had extracted the end coins. (SIVER MAYBE?)
I was beginning to wonder if someone was messing with rolls inside Brinks, so between the missing coins and finding zilch, I don't order from that bank anymore.

Who do you guys bribe to get the coin counter bags? I've asked at a couple of places and was told definitely not.

Talk to the Branch Manager/ and or Head Teller.
Explain that you are a coin collector etc and would like to purchase "full sealed bags " prior to them shipping them out.
Usually they should be willing to sell them to you because you are saving them service charges the bank pay's the carrier service to pick them up. etc.
*Be very courteous in your approach and explanation of what you are doing etc!

Remember, not all banks will co-operate- by me TD bank will not and it's a virtual SILVER MINE sitting in their machines because the half bags only hold $100.00 before the teller has to replace the bag, so you know it's not someone dumping large quantities into the bags, its grandma's and grandpa's coins and I can't get at it!
They absolutely refuse to sell!
My coin bag sources are other banks etc, sorry I can't divulge the name and location for obvious reasons.
Not about to cut my own throat etc!:)

I have another box of halves on order (always string Fed Resv. wrappers from my bank). But, I'm kind of thinking about taking a break from them and just focusing on Cents and Nickel boxes.... I seem to enjoy them more--- and I seem to find more keepers too ! Plus, they take more time to go through.... I can do a box of halves in one night.... then I have no more coins to do ! ...  So, I'll wait until I find "zero" keepers in a box of halves....then I'll take my "break". But as long as I, at least, keep finding one 40%er.....I'll keep going !....  I'm still waiting for my first Walker or Franklin from roll searching.....that'd be nice ! |

$63 in a mix of customer rolled and loose. As soon as I saw the customer rolled I knew they'd been searched, but took them just in case. I did find a 1776/1976 in BU to replace the one in my folder. In the loose I found one 40% (1967). Not a total loss.

My box last week was weak - no silver, but I did get a 1907 English penny. Pretty beaten up, but I knew it was something different when I cracked open the roll and saw that edge smiling at me!

i managed to get my hands on one box and five customer rolls, the box contained 18 40%s, 4 NIFC (2008d,2007p,2005d,2004d) and a Magicians coin. The five customer rolls ended up containing 43 40% for a total of 61 40%'s for the day. -XoG |
