JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

Sdcoinguy..I've almost bought mine also, but you have the right idea to call ahead. I have printed out maps on google of banks in an area (city) , they have the phone and address listed. I call the banks first and if that area doesn't have much, I call another area with a group of banks..... I plan my route accordingly with along with my dump bank in that direction.
Yeah I got it down to a science! (lol)

I went to the flea market today and picked up 39 40%ers for 1.74 a piece and 10 64's for 5 bucks a piece. I think that any silver is a good buy below melt? what do you think? Also at a different booth I came across a guy selling a few Morgans and piece dollars for 10 bucks a piece. I was stoked till I picked up one :( and I'm about 98% sure they were fakes. They felt like aluminum and would not ring what so ever when I flicked them up in the air. He had other silver coins at great prices they seemed more legit but those fakes made me skeptical of all of them.


The silver I bought was from a different booth and the guy was about 10 times less greasy than the counterfeit guy lol.


I told the guy that his coins were fakes and that if they would have been real I would have bought them all at the prices he was saying.
$10 Morgans $4 halves $2 quarters. He said that they weren't and I said to be nice well if they are real you can walk down around the corner and sell em to that guy at the other booth for more that that lol. He was like "OH really I didn't know that".... bull$hit. Their were a bunch of people around and I was making a bit of a scene it was fun :)

Hey guys, New collector here. Just started searching halves this week. Lets just say I'm slightly obsessed! My second day roll searching I got a roll of 17 %90, 3 Bens ('50, '62, '63) 12 Walkers ('36, '40, '41, '42, 5 '43s, 3 '45s) 2 '64 jfk's. Needless to say I am hooked! I have not done any boxes yet but that time will come. So far after 5 days of searching I have accumliated over 20 troy oz of silver! 62 %40 and 29 %90. I'm sure my beginners luck will run dry soon. Thanks for all your humorous and informative posts.
