Hmm Crazy as a fox...I like it!

Americanamafia, Sadly IMHO, it is more often than not that you come up with only a few or nothing out of a box, but that doesn't mean you can't hit big with one ( just ask XOG!), I prefer customer rolls myself. The ratio is usually bigger in CR than boxes.

Some people go by the color of the wrappers in the box that certain wrappers hold more silver, but that depends on your area and who delivers the boxes (ie Brinks or Garda etc.) Its trial and error.
Some people buy bags and its better because the coins go straight from the coin counter to the bags, no one can pick first as I understand it,( they do not have coin counters in banks around me)
But don't give up, there is certainly more out there!

This was my first time with boxes and pulled no silver out of $1000 is that normal?

Americanamafia, that's nothing, just keep going! A lot of us here have been through 10 or more consecutive boxes w/o a hit! Yes, we're that sick!

Seriously, this is a game in which you can't lose...just remember that. The worst you can do in this game is break even. And, that won't last forever, it'll turn around, sooner or later, believe us when we tell you that...

Hey tls - Sometimes the bags do get searched. At my credit union, the vault manager goes through and pulls out all the silver. They turn around and sell it at face value to the owner of a local coin store. I saw him leave one time with a gallon Ziploc bag full of silver and old notes.

I'm trying to get in on that racket but haven't had any luck.

I used to search the bags when I worked at TD bank, the managers didnt like it and I eventually got a warning for ignoring them and doing it anyway. It was worth the trouble though, on a few days I made more money in the amount of silver I found than they were paying me so I really didnt have an incentive to stop lol.

TD Bank has a policy of not allowing anyone to search through the bags after they leave the machine.

i tend to be biased towards brinks boxes from personal experience

Despite that I have made a few big hits on string boxes in the past. The best I ever did on a single string box was 2 years ago when I pulled 4 rolls of 90%'s including 2 rolls of walkers and 2 or 3 rolls of 40%'s. You can find silver in any type of box, the key is patience and most of all volume. The more you search the more silver your likely to pull in the long run.
Rather than concentrating on what type of box your searching, you should try to buy halves from banks that have coin machines. As those are the banks that are most likely to have people dump silver and for that silver to be rolled and boxed.

Just started to search the 2 boxes today and on opening the second roll from the box:

Yeah!
My third (CONECA) 1972P 1DO-001 in less than one month!

This one is in much better condition also than the other 2.

Also found 1 -41P Walker in the same roll.

I'll post final results of the 2 boxes later, I just wanted to get this up to you guy's to say again to look for variety/errors besides just Silver! You opened the roll, why not check each coin?

Good Luck!

Nice "72" DDO Chuckster.

Thanks for the tips, XOG!

By coin machines, do you mean CoinStars? I have not seen those in banks here in the south. Is there an easy way to find out who has them without a phone call or stop at each bank branch? I will check Coinstars website, maybe they list banks. They ought to be some down here as every grocery store has a coin machine...

Hey Chad,

Do you guys have Golden 1 CU's down there? I posted this somewhere else, but if you put 500 into an account with them you can drop coin in their counter all day long.

Went thru 2 boxes today and I scored BIG time!
187-40%ers
1-90%Er
1-Benny in probably Unc condition
1-2003 Silver Proof (Stuning!)
1976-40%er Proof.
As soon as I opened the first box BONANZA!!
The 40%ers must of been in water or in a humid rusty safe becuase all of them are filthy.
