I'm glad for you that you got Silver from a Brink's Box!
I'm just saying that in all the boxes from Brinks that I've gotten from last year to now (about 15 total) I've never found anything!
I've even gotten a box that had a few coins extracted from the end of a roll, making me even more paranoid about them! (LOL)
I'll stay with "String & Son" Thank You!
Good Luck Hunting!!

my dad went through his first sting n sons box and found nothing. I feel bad because I am really into the hunting thing, however never gotten a box, we were both eager to see what he got. not sure if location has anything to do with it. he lives in Northern Michigan and I am here in San Diego. Hopefully he will try again. and hopefully soon I will have the funds to get a box =D

I can only seem to find bags around here - and Brinks owns the area. So far, no 100% skunk bags......but I pick one up Tuesday and probably just jinxed myself.

Quote: I've even gotten a box that had a few coins extracted from the end of a roll Now I'm curious...in a sealed box? I'm not talking about scotch taped...

TD Bank taped the box in front of me before selling it as they said it came from Brinks like that & they did not want the box to break open and rolls fall out!
Obviously, some one helped themselves to a few coins (possibly silver at the ends of the roll" before I purchased the box.
On the same note, my regular bank has also taped some boxes for me saying when "Garda" dropped off the boxes they were starting to come apart and they re-sealed them and I've never had a short roll from "String & Son rolls yet.

if it were me, I would report that. there has to be rules that people follow in the banking industry. the tellers I go to tell me they must have a certin amount of money at their teller station everyday. so when they get low, they will go to the vault and get a box and usually open it and break it with one of the other tellers. that is how I managed to get my first "box". I couldnt afford to get the whole 500 so I took half... so if someone is getting into the rolls, I would say it is someone at brinks, or the trucking co. that would make me very paranoid. I would find yourself a new bank. start dumping at that bank instead. =D

I've just about stopped ordering any Brinks boxes from TD Bank. As I've mentioned above, the boxes are just plain DUD'S!
The bulk of my box orders are from different banks that all use Garda and the rolls are all String & Son, Harrisburg PA.

Box 2 for the weekend was a big 0! Box 3, 1 67 and 5 NIFC. All of my boxes are from the Fed wrapped in yellow String and Sons wrappers. It makes me sick hearing some of your finds. I keep on going 3 boxes a week, sooner or later...

I have been holding the proof halves that I have found for some time. Tomorrow I will dump the following proofs 1971 - 3 1972 - 1 1973 - 2 1974 - 3 1976 - 8 1977 - 3 1979 - 1 1980 - 3 1981 - 1 1982 - 3 1984 - 5 1985 - 1 1986 - 3 1987 - 2 1988 - 4 1989 - 5 1990 - 1 1991 - 1 1992 - 1 1995 - 1 1996 - 2 1997 - 2 1999 - 1 2002 - 1 2004 - 1
I won't be too surprised if someone on this forum finds them in the near future.

Anyone here from West Houston? I'm here visiting from Mexico and I have not been able to find halves at banks...I have stopped at half a dozen banks and only found THREE halves...a 97, a 200 and a 95....
Getting deperate to search something I have been buying nickels and haven't found a drop of silver, but did pick up a nice 1939...then in desperation, I picked though about a gallon of change a friend had been saving and...found a 1960 quarter!!
How long does it take to get a box? I'd probably be ordering from a BoA, Wells Fargo or a Wachovia.

I'm curious. Why would you dump the proofs back into circulation?

I've been kinda taking it easy and getting customer rolls every now and then ( cant completely quit!) Been finding 3 or 5 or 2 silvers here and there. The other day though, I did get a 1978 s clad Ike,my first s Ike proof anyway and it looked like someone had deliberately scratched the shiny fields on purpose, what a shame... Another coin I found was a pleasant surprise a 1949 - D Ben my first "key date" found in a roll, not quite a full bell lines but its more defined then some of my later date Bens Harrison- I know you've been chomping at the bit to search here in the US, I dont know how long you will be here, but keep trying, its hit or miss...and good luck, keep us informed!

I'll be hitting up another few backs Monday if all goes well...
Any suggestions on the centers that are in grocery stores vs branches vs drive-through?
I was pleased to get three Ikes at a grocery store location.
