I'm curious. Why would you dump the proofs back into circulation?

The proofs are ones that I have found the last couple of years. All are scratched and dented. I just don't feel like keeping or selling them. I have seen them on ebay in the past for sell, but I don't know if it would be worth the fees to sell them.

FWIW, I showed some of the proofs I have came across to a dealer who thought that they were probably stolen and then spent. Also these are considered "impaired" and have no numismatic value unless it's a key date silver.

I came across a box that was short around $3 last week and was reimbursed. This is my 3rd box which has been short.

One of the rolls was missing 3 coins which I showed the teller and she was surprised and told me that she would inform their armored car service. Luckily my son found the roll and we did not open it. The edges were intact and the coins easily slid up and down!!

you know, I had thought about security reasons. I certinly do not want that. it is just nice to see pics of what people have, even if they are only 1 or 2 coins in the collection. so if anyone has one of their favorites, that too would be a treat

My bank just called - they can't get my bag this week. Hmmm...disappointing.

Tell you what afcop13, you can have my bags I have been getting lately. They have sucked beyond belief. I will tell my bank to ship them over to your bank right away.

Harrison, I am in South East Houston and have had luck getting halves at the banks inside Kroger's. They have even ordered them for me and I don't even have an account with them.

Any suggestions on the centers that are in grocery stores vs branches vs drive-through?

I have found some halves ( I dont remember any silver) inside grocery store banks, although I tend to dump there more often, different locations of course. Maybe thats just me

As far as drive thrus vs branches, I like to go in. I think it is more personal and when I ask them to check the other tellers for halves, they might have more incentive to do so, again just MHO

AGCoinHunter - thanks - I appreciate the offer, but I'll pass. LOL.

I do have $1500 coming in next week now though.....$500 from one bank and $1000 from another.

JokingJoker, I hope we aren't in the same area!

GUESS WHAT GANG!! Yep...walked into a bank today, asked for halves and they cooly replied "I have a few..." which amounted to $12 worth...and amongst them...yep, a 1968-D and a 1969-D!! Finally!!!

Then another branch said they "only had $3 worth"....I was like...oh, $3 worth is great for me...then, they pulled out three rolls of $10 each...WOW! Woooo hoooo!...alas...no silver in them...but I'll have to check the dates now.

speaking of skunk brinks boxes, had 2 of them today.. just a few nifc, including a '07 P & D and a '02-D that was perfect exc for the black marker line that some jack@$$ put across it.

On the other hand, I was gonig to call it quits but decided to order again after I had a decent convers with 2 of the tellers....our rapport is getting so good that they will order me anything I want ,and one of them even showed me a 1934 $500 bill she had gotten from the bank 3 years ago.

Now all I need is for them to start pulling silver and saving it for me, like some of you guys do!

ok. I do not know where to start..

i didn't want to start a new thread for this, I think it fits in this category: you be the judge.

so after $250 in dimes, I found a 47, 63-d , 64-d.. not bad for dimes? well on my way to BANK OF AMERICA to dump my coins in their convenient coin bags (used for merchants), I rolled up to the merchant teller and handed over the bag. after she processed the money, she opened her teller drawer. I glanced down to see 5x silver half dollars!!, I asked politely if I may buy them. she said yes. so as I got the money out of my pocket, she brought out 5 CLAD halves.. I looked down and there was still the 5 SILVER halves. I asked, I would like those halves please. she quickly changed the subject and asked me to sign for my receipt. I politely asked again why I cannot have those halves. she replied that she was saving them for herself. at that moment I was begging to steam. Now, I know that many tellers save silver for customers, themselves etc. I called the corporate office as I left and told them what had happened. As a B OF A teller you are required to hand out whatever denomination that is asked for. If you do not have the money, then too bad. But, if they have the money, they are required to give it to you. I had then left the branch manager an anonymous voice-mail and explained the situation. I do not feel bad at all for ratting her out. She has always given me a bad attitude, even when I was polite. Now, if she had bought the halves for herself, and taken them OUT of the teller tray, then NO BIG DEAL, I would have gone elsewhere. But policy stated that whatever was in the drawer and if it was arsed for, then by company policy, they are to hand it over. I am not going to go make a big deal about it and go back and ask. I just wanted some justice. It just doesn't seem fair you know? what would you all have done? If you saw 5 SILVER halves sitting there in the tray, and you asked, and they said NO! wouldn't it kinda rub you the wrong way? anyway, ill get over it...
