You're in a bad cycle. Let them go for awhile, then come back to them. For the next month, or couple months, find something else to do. Get fed boxes, do the road trip thing, hit up the tellers for whatever they got in their trays, see if they got any customer rolls in their vaults they can shake the dust off and sell you. When you do go back to the black and whites, if you get a hit (anything, a 40%, even a NIFC>'01), hit them hard the next time around. You want to catch a good cycle in your distribution-area, that's the idea...

hybes your really making me jelous. I have roll hunted halves in about 2 months, were hunting the same area. if I wouldent have given up thoes could have been mine. maybe ill get a box tomorrow after golf

Thanks for all the kind words. The first box and the last box were duds. The second box had 72 silvers in it. Skunk boxes are brutal to get through, so depressing. I am rewrapping ALL my dumps and only returning $1000 at a time so when I return them I dont piss anyone off. Needless to say my fingers are raw! I did speak to a couple different vault tellers and an assistant manager, all of them said there was no charge from brinks to deliver or pick up halves. One also said that brinks basicly wraps and redistributes only the most recently used coin. She told me I am going to have the best luck with customer rolls,but I will give the boxes a try for a bit.

Went through $900 of brinks rolls and $140 of customer rolls. 10 40%, 5 in each.

Do you guys rewrap your coin or just bring them to the coin machine?

I keep swapping about $25 in coin rolls when I go to the bank, for my son to go through. He has a 20th century type set folder that also has holes for his birth year.

The only holes left are for a Barber half (we'll probably get one at a show on Sunday or at his coin club on Thursday) and the 2001 half for his birth year. So whenever I swap coins, I ask if they have any halves. The answer is almost always no (I think we've seen about 25 half dollars in four months)--but yesterday, one of the other tellers says, "I've got $19.50 worth." So I move to her window to trade.

Anyway, I figure with 39 halves, there's a good chance he'll finally find his 2001. So I get home, give him the box that I put the halves in, and he gets to looking. Lots of bicentennials, no silver, and the most recent coin was 1981. Looks like the birth year set will have to wait for another day.

Today, while picking up my box of nickels, I got the $9.50 in halves my teller had. A 64-P and a 65!
