I wonder if we can generalize a search strategy from this. I'm saying, this is probably good to know, but I don't know that it helps us very much, just in and of itself.

I am only going to dump to a brinks supplied bank and buy from loomis supplied bank.

Thanks Hybes, I just ordered my first boxes ever, 2 brinks boxes come in on wed.

Well I went to 5 banks today

The first bank I went to had $200 in customer rolled halves, she brought them out and said you arent going to search these for silver are you because they all are marked, .... I said no I need them for an easter egg hunt.. I seen 4 rolls that were not marked...

The next 4 banks had none

SO I get home after 40 Mins of driving to banks far away hoping to score big.. I go to the basement table and start opening them.

First Roll 12 40% Silver

Next roll 5 40% silver

Next roll 8 40% silver

Total of 25 40% Silvers

Rest Skunks

An interesting thing to note. In my sealed brinks box last week I had found a piece of a String and Son wrapper in the box. Clearly saw String and Son and 10 Dollar Halfs on this piece of wrapper. Now I guess my question is how did this piece of wrapper end up in a totally different companies box? Or was it just a mistake that a piece of scrap made it in there?

Sorry bout that Jason, good news is that I just started dumping large quantities to brinks banks this week, meaning they wont ship out of the banks til this week. So your boxes should be good.

I am ordering from Chase bank and dumping to huntington and Lake Mich Credit Union. So if there is large quantities at those banks STAY AWAY! Unless you enjoy lots of clad.

I have been reading this topic for some time, I have a question, does everyone who 'searches" for silver sell the coins for melt or scrap?

I would like to hear no, but I feel this is not the case, I just can not imagine the amount of coinage being melted down for the value of a buck!

I also have a better idea from seeing people selling their silver coins at coin shows, the overwhelming amount of coins being melted down and never to be seen again, just my observation.....

Morgan's dad,

I sell the majority of my silver when I get enough to make it worth the trip. From what I have seen is the people who eventually get the silver keep them as coins... Look at like MONEX... and other precious metals websites, they sell US coins at a premium over bullion. Somthing about how they are worth more then bullion because they still have a value as currency if need be...

I would have a hard time imagining people melting down vast quantaties of coins when buying bullion.. is ... relatively cheaper.. just my 2cents

I too Dump at huntington. I have my morgage thru them and can never get ahold of anyone to answer any questions, so I use them as my dump bank, I've pry dumped $5000 at the same huntington the past 6 months and they cant say no because I have 2 checking accounts and my morgage with them

I ordered my boxes from chase today, I thought they got brinks but I've never ordered from them before....

LMCU hardly ever lets me buy from them because I dont have an account so I will stay away from them all together.

I tried the standale area today and huntington was the only bank to have any halves the rest didnt, I also went to coopersville and didnt get any halves, so I'm gonna start ordering them

Two Fed boxes over the weekend, no silver. In addition to the NIFCs>'01 (yeah, we still save those, habits die hard ), got a '04-S DCAM clad proof. It's in 65+, easy. It's amazing how these come to you like they were handed to you right out of the set.

Just as an aside, did you notice this coin is worth more in 65 than the corresponding silver proof? Check it out sometime. I figure it's because the '04 is the lowest mintage clad proof in the series. I don't know what else would explain it.

$500 bag. Clearly someones dump - lots of marked up coins, red or purple marker over the "R" in LIBERTY.

No silver - 5 NIFC - 2003D, 2005D x 2, and 2006 P x 2.

Keeping needed NIFC for album - releasing the others.

I have a $1000 bag coming from a different bank Friday.......hopefully better results.

Sometimes a wrapper or piece thereof can inadvertently end up in a dump bag...that's all I can think. Bag redeemed through Brinks and wrapper made its way to the box.

Went to several banks yesterday and came up empty until the last one. This bank had 5 customer wrapped rolls. When I saw them, I noticed that one of them was one that I had already searched because I saw where I had marked the wrapper.

I found my first Franklin in the wild--1963 D! I also found in those 4 rolls, 5 nice 1968 Ds.

I thought that wasn't too bad for 4 rolls.

got my 2 boxes today.
first box was great... 4 40% silvers, 27 "s" Mint Proofs all in great condition, 8-10 NIFCs 02 and 04

2nd box was all marked up didnt even finish it went thru about $200 and stoped, 95% of the coins were marked on the E in liberty. I dont under stand marking EVERY coin. makes it hard for people trying to put sets together. if your going to mark a coin only do 1 year please, and make it the 76 because I seem to get alot of thoes. the second box I found 2 2002 and they were marked also
