JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

Seated! Holy cow. That is sweet. Things are dead up this way. Did ten boxes and pulled one 64...Picked up $120 in customer rap...all 2003, 2006 and 2009. Haven't tossed them back yet but they are heading back to circulation.

The "old" brinks boxes I got were the same brinks wrappers that I normally get but the paper felt old and easily tore. The box themselves were the same dimensions as my usual ones but these were held together using a copper or brass monster staple. I think the oldest half I saw was like 1994.

Oddly enough, the halves I get from brinks are the only paper wrapped items I seem to get. I am almost certain all the other denominations are plastic, heat shrink stuff. Where are you out of SD?

Oh LOL, nearly the complete opposite of myself. Well I am a student and the summer is relatively free, except for my part time job, and I am going to a lot of different banks to get halves boxes. I guess my rationale is, even if I were to get 3k worth of skunks in a row it would only take 1 and 1/2 weeks to get through that 3k rather than several weeks.

SD, i'd have to agree with you on the bank teller demographic here in SoCal. However, I've found that a lot of the younger tellers tend to be more ignorant when it comes to silver. And the other way to get unsearched CWRs from a teller is to visit new tellers. if you go to the bank often enough, you'll spot new tellers. If they get silvers, they'll tend to keep them in the drawer rather than swap them out, and here's why...
i was a teller once and I think most banks follow similar protocol...tellers aren't allowed to change money out of their own drawer for their personal use. meaning, if a teller needs to get change for a dollar, they can't just reach in and take out 4 quarters and put in their dollar. they need to get it from another teller. in some cases, if the branch isn't too strict a teller can have another teller observe them exchanging the money. a new teller won't be so anxious or bold to buy money from their own drawer, they'll be too concerned about the fact that they have 5-10K sitting in front of them. when I was a teller, if I wanted a silver that was in my drawer. I would have to ask my neighbor to watch as I held up the coin that I wanted and put my replacement in.

Dumped $7 at McD's drive through for lunch. The girl didn't know what they were. I had to show her where it said they were worth fifty cents/half dollar each. My lord - if these kids had to do math without a computer the world would end.
