today, for the first time, my amazing wife went to the local banks for me while I was at work!@! she only found $7 worth but we got a 69-d!!
she said when she found it she was actually pumped too!
time and patience has worked! she sees how profitable it 'can' be. and now, you figure, if we found 1 40% out of %7.. thats way better than 1k worth in boxes.. and I usually get skunked!
she loves doing coins with me know! thank you Lord!
so next week, she will make the rounds again. or b/c we live in a city of 160k+ there are a few banks she didnt hit...

That's an awesome story, thanks guys! I am going to keep working at it and hopefully she will gain some interest. It's just a lot more fun when you can do this with a loved one! I just have to keep her away from Coin Collector on HSN, she finds Mike on there quite annoying, which I actually have to agree with her on, but that's a subject for another forum!

EW, again, when I first started searching through rolls it started with $20, no more. even when I showed her the silver, didnt matter. our situation was that she felt uncomfortable with $$ out of the bank, we didnt have a lot, so taking $500 or $250 , halves or dimes, out was kinda stretching it. so I stuck with cents and customer wrapped rolls of halves under $100. both agree to a limit that is comfortable, but more for her (the wife always wins) so, once we had some more income, and I was finding things that made money, halves, tellers saving me solid silver rolls, 1999 WAM, boxes of 2010 shield cents I sold for 3x face, at this point she was seeing the $$$ come in... that point took some time and patience on my part. recently, she has been picking up boxes, dropping off boxes for me in the meantime. its been great being able to share your passion with your bestfriend. and I thought she would hate it - she told me for the first time she got excited about finding her first 69-d from just $7! a lot easier for her than to search 1k in boxes...and for her light frame, a lot easier to carry. dont give up on her. she will come around. once she sees the profits, and that it is making money, and I dont know what woman would disagree with more $$$... |

EW, yea my wife thinks I am crazy. She used to help me some but never was really excited about the silver. Now, if I get a good box or bag I let her cherry pick the silver out and try to get her into it but she still doesn't get into it. I think more than the extra $$$ it takes is the time it takes away from doing other things that ticks her off about my hobby. The extra trips to the bank, the extra time dumping coins, ect. Probably the best thing you can do is take some of the silver you find and sell it and buy her something nice with it. Make sure to tell her you bought it from the proceeds of your silver searching. That might change her tune.

Something made me stop and ask for halves yesterday. I found one 1964 in $17 of loose.

I dropped in to my little branch bank and got all the halves they had...... ALL 12 of them and the teller handed me TWO 1989S proofs!! Not a bad ratio huh LOL!  |

Had to go out of town this morning so on the way back in I stopped at a small town bank and got 6 rolls.
Glad I did! I got 23 - 40% halves! 3 coins over a roll out of 6 rolls! No 64's though but I am still hoping maybe soon!
It sure is funny how some banks have NONE and others have halves stacked in the vault........ Go figure.
Anyway... this is FUN!

SDCoinguy... Congrats on getting your wife wanting to roll hunt! That must be nice to have her helping too and to spend time together going thru coins....My husband was uncomfortable too until I hit and then he understood! He still doesn't get into coins but he doesn't mind if I do! And good haul Michael T !!  |

Well, I couldn't stand it. After seeing what I pulled yesterday I drove back over to that small town bank I got some rolls from yesterday. I got all they had left, all 9 rolls. None of the coins were any newer than 1974 and I pulled 54 - 40% silver halves! Those people were even glad I got their last rolls of half dollars! They THANKED me for taking them! I sure hated to see them run out.... I really enjoyed their stash while it lasted. Here is the results:  |
