Obla...I just want to find a bank who has bags of half dollars! There is a small regional bank by me and when I asked my account guy he said they could only order them in bags of $1000. I was so excited only to find out it was rolls!

There is nothing wrong with the rolls as long as they are loaded with silver! But I am lazy and would prefer not to crack rolls! lol

Oh one other thing about bags is if you order you must order $1,000. Versus boxes it's $500. My point being if you want the bank to think you're keeping small you would get the equivalent of 2 boxes by ordering 1 bag. For instance, Chase by me won't order more than 1 box so I am limited to $500 in coins.

hmm...interesting russ. the problem I find with the bags is that most of the banks around me won't accept un-rolled coin, so I either have to buy half dollar rolls and roll the bagged coins every time or just get a box and re-roll them using the rolls that came with the box.

PS--are you of russian descent or something?

oh, just your syntax reminds me of russian speakers who are fluent in english. it's not bad or anything, just a slight variation in word choice.

I tell you what, nothing steams me more than seeing perfectly good halves defaced with a marker or stamp. Who are these jerks who decide that it is OK to destroy a beautiful coin with a permanent marker? Today, I came across a nearly perfect 1979-D and a couple other coins that would have been awesome if it weren't for the idiot who destroyed them. They would of been keepers. Sorry, just had to vent because disrespectful people annoy me.

Yes, very aggravating. Some guy posted waaaay back that he had marked 5000 halves with an olive lime green marker diagonally across Kennedy's face from just above "IN GOD WE TRUST" to the "T" in "LIBERTY". Did the marks look like that?

By the way, permanent marker comes right off with rubbing alcohol, so you can still save the coins---it's not really "permanent".

Hi -

I'm new to coin roll hunting. I think I've had some beginner's luck. First bank I went to, I asked if they had any 50c - she gave me a 1946 walker for .50 - she had been saving it for her mom, but didn't seem to mind giving it to me.

Then I went to another bank today, and bought two rolls - found a 1968 40%.

So I've gotten 2 silvers in 40 coins (5%). I'm going to do a box next. I really hope this doesn't become an addiction - but also part of me hopes my beginners luck doesn't wear off!

Phil - I have also found an '86-S immigrant half in circulation. The design itself does not lend to circulation. The two different textures of ocean on each side of the coin look terrible in "impaired proof" condition.

Snagged a silver Roosie in change at an ice cream shop yesterday, and some rolls of '10 cents. (Does anyone else bother saving them?)

Snagged 4-40% and 2-'64 last week. Hoping to cash in on the holiday rush and find some good dumped silver!
