I searched 2 boxes from my new bank. Found 1 64' and 6 40%'s. Compared to my last 24 boxes, this is gravy. Wow Obla and 90, 12 boxes per week is pretty crazy. Dumping must be awful.

I am now 3000 coins in to roll searching. I have not been able to buy a box yet, and these are no more than 20 rolls at a time.
I have found 29 90%'ers and 12 40s.
I had a few funny things happen, most notably with all of those 1964 Kens. I went into a local bank for 15 rolls, and found 14 coins. Of course I went back the next day for more. The young gal at the window said there was a roll that had a customer account number , and she would have to re roll the coins.
As she dumped that roll on the counter, the sound alone was enough to tell me where all the silver was coming from. The other tellers knew the sound as well, as they all dropped everything to scurry over for a look.
The young teller would pick up every '64 to study on both sides. I told her not to bother wrapping, I would carry them loose. She did not want to give them up, so I stuffed them away ASAP! When I got to the car I counted 15, all out of a $10 roll.
I went in for more rolls the next day, only to be told NO. I knew I was done as soon as the silver hit the counter, but I had to give it a shot. I will go back in a week or two to try again.
There are other stories about dump bank tellers, but I will leave them for later. I could not imaging dealing with the numbers of coin some here are into. I would have some very unhappy dump tellers around here!
I figure a 1% keeper rate is good. I also realize that without the 29 Kennedy's it would be dismal.

Picked up two rolls of halves at my bank(all they had)scored a 1968D! Do coin counting machines accept halves or Presidential dollars?

Tunnioc - depends on the machine the bank has. The Huntington here in town will take Presidential dollars, but not halves - they just 'roll around' in the machine. Whereas my local banks machine will take halves and I assume presidentials too but have not asked. Ask your tellers - they generally know. - Scott

Tunnioc, some machines do and some don't. I've used older machines that accept halves but not dollars becuase the dollars are newer than the machine. Smaller scale modern machines don't do halves because they aren't common. But it seems to me that most of the lobby machines you see in banks will accept both.

so my first box in over 8 months was not a complete loss:
1965 2006-S
could of been worse
also, Scot W,
what I found that works in that situation is approach the manager. if any money is in the tray of a teller, they are under contract with the bank to give you the money that you ask for. tellers are able to change in and out but only when their shift is done. at least that is what "one" bank told me. so I always go into the banks with that in mind if a teller will not give up money that I the customer can see...

The 2011 Kennedy half bags and rolls are released by the Mint on 2/15. They have raised the price of those too.
