I decided to try half dollars for the first time today and it definately was not a good experience. I only picked up $100 but the rolls were all marked. I dont mind not getting any silver but come on. I didn't even bother searching the rolls. It'll be a while before I try this again.

Maybe I need to switch to dimes. I wish I could find at least one something every time. Maybe I'll move to dimes :)

One box today and nothing except some nice NIFC. Two more boxes from BOA later this week.

I've been really busy, so I've had my one bank just getting 1 or 2 boxes a week for me for like 2 months now. Eventually I'll just run through 10K worth of halves and hopefully that will get me something nice. I feel like at least I can't end up going through the same coins over and over if I just end up with a stockpile. I just need to make sure my wife doesn't throw them out on the lawn, since they are starting to pile up and be in the way. :)

What is a "clad proof"?
It is just a proof coin that is clad. lol. there can be clad proofs and silver proofs. so the proofs he got were not silver.

Picked up $80 in customer wrapped halves yesterday and ended up with 36 40%'s. Don't overlook the random rolls left at the bank.

I still feel that the CWR's offer the best chance for something good. A lot of these "dumps" have been accumulating for many years and the current economy has encouraged their deposit.

CWR.... all of our dreams :)
So on the clad proofs, how can you tell they are a proof? The "cameo" or "mirror" look?

All 1968 to date proof Kennedy half dollars will have an 'S' mint mark, so all clad proof Kennedy half dollars will have an 'S' mint mark. With the exception of the 1976 uncirculated silver, all 'S' mint marked half dollars will be proof. The 1992 to date proofs can be silver or clad, easy to distinguish by looking at the edge.

what do you guys do when you buy some rolls that are CWR and when they get handed to you, you notice they are all marked? do you just take them and return them to another bank, or do you decline buying them?

Be courteous and buy them- it's very easy to turn the teller's attitude against you. Especially if they're doing you a favor and getting them from the vault, which requires getting up from their seats! =P
