It was pretty cool to find that Walker in the last roll. I told my wife that I really wanted to find a Walker or Franklin in these boxes. I have only found 1 Franklin in 16 boxes of halves and no Walkers. Makes me look forward to next week!
I also forgot to mention that these were NF Strings and Sons boxes and that I did find 2 Quarters wedged in 2 different rolls. I counted those rolls and they only had 19 half dollars each. I have never found quarters wedged in.

Well, after a brief reprieve, I'm back to skunksville on the halves. A box plus $8 in loose from another bank turned up zippo. Only 3 NIFC (none I needed), which is below my average too, not that they're worth anything!

I have a big back log of halves to go through and in one of the boxes I pulled 10 40%, 2 64s and 1 1920 Walker. The walker is AG3 (at best), but this is my second best box by value and that's the oldest half I've found. Prior oldest was 1925 Stone mountain. One of the 64s kinda looks like a proof.
Still need a 1987P and a 1970D to complete my circulation set, and at the rate I'm finding proofs too, I may complete the clad proofs before I find them!

Well, I'm at a total of 4 1/2 boxes and got another blank. This time not even a proof.
I'm done with halfs...I've never been much of a fan of the coin anyway.
Back to pennies.

Hey dude don't give up! I was on a skunk streak that included 4 pickups on dimes, and I wasnt just edge searching. Then I found 3 silvers in only $95! You'll be glad you didnt give up when you find something.

While picking up change for work today I noticed that one of the tellers had some halves in her tray. I asked her if she had any 'funny money' (I'm in there daily and they know what that means!) - she said she did and produced an Ike and six dollars in halves. I told her I only had six dollars and would take the Ike and five in halves. She brought them all over and began counting them out and I heard that special clink! I ended up trading for one of the two she had in her hand accordingly. Ended up with two 1969D's and THREE 1964P's! Add that to a 46 quarter from one of the rolls and that was my most successful bank run in awhile!

2 boxes on Friday, complete skunks. No silver, NIFC, or proofs...not even anything to look at...almost all edges were flattened. What a boring hour of unwrapping. Oh well...can't all be winners.

hey RollHunter Posted 08/26/2011 fyi... you will never find a 1970D to complete a 'circulation' set, 1970-D was never made for 'circulation' and can only be obtained in a 1970 mint set, plus it's 40% Silver so it will cost you maybe $10

People find them, it's just very rare. It's like finding a proof or a newer NIFC half dollar. Occasionally people actually spend their proof or mint sets.

My first time searching a $500 bag of Kennedy half dollars and found (1) 1964 silver and (3) 40% silvers (1965 & (2) 1969) =) Not bad for the 1st time. I also found a 2004 really shiny Kennedy but someone scratched out "In God We Trust"
