Shavil, no they did not. After 70, there were no silver proofs until 76 and they did a special 3 piece set with silver Ike, Kennedy and Washington. No more silver until they started doing silver proof sets, and that was 1992.

Hi Chuckster 125 (Chuck), I am new to coin roll hunting, just read a few of your posts, and wanted to see if you'd give us newcomers some advice? It sounds like you know what your doing! So, do you order your boxes of half dollars from the same bank every time? And, do you dump your coins at the same dump-bank every time? Also, have you ever searched small dollar rolls (like Sacagawaes)? I'm excited to start my collection so any advice you can give would be great! Thanks, Mark

Had a week off from work, so I decided to double the weekly order of 4 boxes to 8 boxes. I found:
1 1941 S Walker, 1 1964 JFK 9 40% silver JFK
2 1986 Commemorative immigrant halves 7 S proof various year halves (most recent being a 2011)
Not too bad, happy to find some silver and the commemorative halves. Also found about 40 2010 NIFC halves.
Happy searching to all.

Things were pretty dry for me, I only do a box a week, except for the 1943 I found a few weeks ago. Anyway, last weeks box was exciting, 8 40%, and a 1964, this week was 2 40%, and a 2006, 2010, and a 2008 that ran through slots with the smooth edge, kinda neat. I save the BU halves, basically I go by the edge of the coin, if it's clean and not worn, and spend them around. I was spending them at a festival recently, someone said, oh the kids love these things, probably kid safe, to big to swallow. Everyone that comes into contact with these coins just love them.

Another box and another skunk. I did get one '68 from a teller. I have yet to score on a box. I'm in SC.

scratchoff! Quote: Hi Chuckster 125 (Chuck), I am new to coin roll hunting, just read a few of your posts, and wanted to see if you'd give us newcomers some advice? Thanks, Mark Mark, I order a total of 8 boxes each week- four each from 2 separate banks. Other successful members here just go after customer wrapped rolls, I'm too lazy, I can't be bothered driving all over the place hitting bank after bank- I'd rather just get my 8 boxes every week and be done with halfs for that week! Other successful members are able to purchase bags to search, I've not been able to find one bank by me that will allow me to purchase bags, so I go with boxes. I dump all of my halfs at a TD bank. I never dump where I purchase halfs. I do not search small dollar rolls- Sacs and Presidents etc. My best advice is to be consistant , order the same boxes etc every week etc, and most important, do not get frustrated when you have bad weeks with low or no silver. Keep everything in perpective, you will also have great weeks, it's just not getting to the point that you stop doing halfs. If I find more than 10 each week, to me, it's be a sucessful week. Good Luck and Happy Hunting! Chuck.

Just ordered a bag or a box from my local bank. They aren't sure which. They told me straight up that any customer who wants them can order, and they don't have anyone that orders. Wish me luck on my first order. Probably will be a week and a half, cause she has to order it late.

I do both, hoard and then sell.
Right now I'm in sell mode with Silver over $40.00 per ounce! :)

I keep all the 90% coins and sell the 40% coins when I get a load of them. This week is going better so far - 4 boxes in and I have found a 58'D, 2 64'P's and 23 40%'s.

I have been going through the boxes since silver is high and I'd rather get it for face value or at least get some at face as not to have to pay such a cost for silver junk coins. I was able to get some of the 2010 proofs from the mint before they suspended sales so proof quality at just a little over scrap price when purchased. Thanks for your answers!

I just got through a really nice box of halves. 6 40%, 1 1964 and 7 NIFC including a 2006-P which was the last hole on page 4 of my Dansco. There was also a holed 1979 which I needed for my holed type set. Also, with the silvers I've finally finished a full roll of 40% halves. Considering 9/10 of my half boxes are skunks, it feels pretty good to get one this good.
Oh, also one of those great big British pennies, a 1907.

Two more skunk boxes. My 10 boxes over the last 5 weeks gave me 9 boxes of skunk plus one box with a Walker, 2 Bens, and 3 40%. This is just enough to keep me going.

@penman: That's way better than my averages. Today's box was my best so far.
