I wonder if anyone at the federal reserves, who knows that nobody uses these things in circulation, has ever looked at wrapping and boxing numbers, and ever thought, ? I only get one box a week, and I use it/see it for more of a forecast on the next recessionary period or even a really early warning on equities trending down. More silver findings mean people are bringing those old buckets of change in again. Finding more NIFC?, times are better, meaning we don't need these nice coins we bought anymore, just spend them. I find it a little unbelievable to find a choice 2010 half dollar in a bank roll when so few were made.

OK, so we got our weekly two baxes from BOA today. These turned out to be collector boxes instead of silver sell boxes. My box I got a good number of very nice NIFC, an 88 P&D pair that could likely grade low MS (and therefor filled those spots in my album) an 87D that filled the hole, a 73 proof and a 68, 64 and a 44 Walker! My wifes box she found a number of NIFCs as well, a 68, and drum roll.................................................................................................................. a 1938D Walker!!! Its a VG and it is the best find roll searching we have found. First key date for any series we have found. So maybe I wont divorce her. LOL

I am beginning to think it is a bigger waste of time to search the boxes than just swing past the banks and ask for halves.
Today I picked up five rolls at a Regions Bank on my way home. Teller told me someone just cashed them in the other day. Out of the 100 coins I got 1 1964D and 11 1966 to 1969 halves. If my math is right, that is a 12% hit ratio, far better than my last $1000 bag where I got 2 1967s.
In two weeks I have picked up about 1.5 box worth of halves from various banks in singles and a roll or 5 here and there. Out of this roughly $800 I have over 41 1966 to 1969 halves, 41 1964 and one 1996 cameo proof. Granted 59 coins were a jackpot on 3 rolls last Saturday, but still, this is about a 10% hit ratio. Far far better than any of my past boxes.
I may go ahead & start asking for customer rolled quarters also, & see if those start turning up silver in the same percentages. Tomorrow morning I am hitting some banks before football.

1987 P Kennedy
I know I read somewhere before about why the interest in this particular half, but I am darned if I can remember.
Someone please tell me why many collect the 1987P. I know I have run across them quite regularly & discarded.
Other than silver & proofs or those in exceptionally nice condition, any others you all collect and why? I am still learning.

I can promise you that you are mistaken about "coming across them often". They are a very low mintage year and none were made for general circulation. Just a bit over 2 million of each mint were made in 87 for mint sets only.

Quote: Holy mackeral! 1938-D unbelievable! That's what I'm sayin! A walker is impressive enough, but then it turns out to be a key like that. Nice find!
