Quote:Now, for the marking thing, again.... To see what happens to these coins... http://s1117.photobucket.com/albums...DSCF9864.mp4 Well played, sir. Well played. It still bothers me, but at least I know one person that will rescue them. Quote: People are going to start marking with a dremel tool now.

Some of you half dollar searchers are so private. I went to the bank to get a box of nickels and I saw a guy getting 10 boxes of halves (i was so jealous). lol. anyways, when he was done I went up to him and started talking to him. it was awkward because he seemed so nervous. I asked if he searches them and he said yes. I asked where he dumps and he says "I'm not willing to share that information", and then he jumps in his car. everyone is always so worried about someone else taking their silver. oh no. I understand if he doesn't want to share with me, but the fact that he seemed so on edge, and a little scared, just made me feel weird. that's the last time I try talking to another searcher in real life.
anyways, so I decided to go pick up some loose halves at another bank. Got $17.50 worth and when she handed them to me she said "are you looking for the silver ones?" well I knew then that I wouldn't get any silver in that lot. But I did get a 1972 s proof from her. So it wasn't horrible. now to go open my box of nickels, where competition doesn't matter because it is more for the fun of it.

anywhere near philly murrell? Cause I have a friend who just picked up 10 boxes the other day. I can somewhat see why some people are hesitant to share where they get and dump. You may have a deal with a bank that they allow you to dump 5k a week there, but if all the sudden a handful of people want to start doing it, they may no longer allow the first person to drop their coins off. To some people it's a pretty big money maker...especially when you're doing that kind of quantity.

I'm picking up my first box in months next week. I've been off halves for a good while now, the only luck I've had is from CWRs, which are almost non existant lately.

That could be a possibly, but I doubt it. It was in front of the bank with many many people around and it was right in front of a security guard. He was also around the age of 25 so he was not some paranoid older man. When I left I made sure I went before him so he wouldn't be paranoid about me following him home. Well at least I now know the bank where I buy coins is willing to order boxes of halves for me.

Murr one time I saw a senior pick up a penny and nickels boxes in front me at the bank line so I asked him " you gonna do some search heim ... " he answer yes and just kept walking fast as he could lol . It was the last time I tried to talk to a roll searcher ! Did a box today and stunk all the way !

lol Ricardocody, I guess in real life searchers just want to be left alone and then post on their coin forums. All well.

Looks like things are back to normal up here. The lady at the bank kinda threw me for a loop. She had said to me, They have a bag of halves they would sell me that they have got from customers and I was welcome to them. Ok now admit, that would raise all kinds of alarm bells hey? ZOMG! SILZvER!
Picked it up and immediatly noticed theres no clinging sounds...sounds like solid rolls? WHOA JACKPOT!...............................wait for it............................wait.............................................................................
waiitttt......
NOPE, NADA all wrapped machine rolls from that very bank, obviously picked thru. She got me good LOL
Of the other 2 boxes though, one did produce 2 66 Kennedys so the day was saved. Till next week!

You never know. Some may think since a roll searcher they have silver and / or other PMs. They could be followed. Yes, while heavy so are the air conditioners that are being stolen for a LOT less and the trouble of scrapping etc. So a box of halves while heavy is cold cash no work. Just a worry some may have. When I have purchased some junk silver. I never go straight home so just playing it safe
