All of my 3 boxes have been Brinks boxes. Has anyone had any luck with them? I've seen the rumors on here about how they might be extracting silver with their sorters/counters. I changed my monthly order of 1 box to a weekly order of 2 boxes. I guess time will tell, but I'm worried that I'm just wasting my time with Brinks.

The boxes I have searched were from brinks and out of 8 boxes I found 5 90s and 11 40s so I think good. Not quite like some other posters but in general 2 per box most times. I guess silver can be found in any coinage. My son got 2 silver quarters in change 2 or 3 weeks ago. Just never know. Good luck

Aside from that batch two days ago, I've had little luck with halves. First off, most banks don't seem to have them. Second off, the ones that are in yellow and white machine wrapping seem to be partially torn open on the sides. All the silver that I have found has been in those two envelopes or a few customer rolls. Not a single one in machine wrapping.

By the way, I just want to let you guys know that Smokeriderdon was in a motorcycle accident on Saturday and broke his leg right at the kneecap. He's been sitting around with his leg propped up ever since and can't make it to the computer. I'll have to see about getting a laptop for him or something because I know he'd like to come back and chat for awhile. Hopefully I can find one for a good price somewhere.
Wow! Send him my best wishes and I hope he gets well soon.

You may want to post this in the Coin Community Family Topics so everyone can get the word and you can keep us up-to-date on his progress.

agibby5,

My bank recently switched from Brinks to Loomis. The Loomis boxes have been more productive so far (5 boxes) but that is not a big enough sample to judge by. I would estimate that my Loomis boxes have been better than Brinks by a factor of 4. Of course it wouldn't surprise me in the least to get 8 straight skunk boxes from Loomis like I got from Brinks a couple of months ago.

well, I recently grabbed 2 boxes of halves from the bank seeing a few really nice hauls on here.
I did not get one of those nice hauls lol
I grabbed
2006 P NIFC
2007 P NIFC
1972 S Proof, pretty well circulated
No silver.
Oh well, it was worth a shot. Might have to keep on the halves for a few weeks and see if I get lucky
keep hunting

I guess I was lucky to find at least 1 or 2 in every box. I don't know if I would have continued to search if I hadn't.

Yeah, I'm on my 3rd box ever... so 3 skunks in a row when you just start something sounds like there's not much use in continuing. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in my 2 boxes I ordered for this week. I also ordered a box of dimes and nickels for something different.

I dont know why some of you cant get halves from banks , I'm not excited anymore and my banks keep calling me to say have boxes waiting for me anytime I want pass by there ! I think if I was finding any silver halves I would probably have trouble in order them lol !

I do know banks are charged fees for coin and currency orders and when I requested the halves they were something not in theoir vault. I just think the particular tellers involved can't be bothered.

Today I went to Wells Fargo up the road and asked for halves. The teller said she didn't have any. I asked her if she could ask other tellers and when she did, one guy said he had $8.00 worth of loose halves. I ended up having to wait 10 minutes because he was busy at the window. When he grabbed the halves, I heard the clad sound and thought that this would be a bust and that I should tell him not to worry about it, but thankfully I didn't do that because the last coin on the end was a 1940 Walking Liberty!

I tried to upload pictures, but apparently pictures must be under the size of 100KB.

I want to rant about something for a moment about bank tellers when it comes to looking for halves: I hate it when I ask if a teller has any half dollars and they say they don't, only to find out other tellers have some. Instead of going "I don't have any personally, but would you like me to ask if anybody has any halves?", they just assume that I'm asking if the individual teller has halves, rather than the ENTIRE BANK. I almost always have to ask, "Would you ask any other tellers if they have half dollars?" If you read my above paragraph, you'll see that had I just said "Okay, thank you" and walked out, I would not have scored that Walking Liberty, nor would I have scored those three 40% halves last Saturday.

One last thing: many times, they think I am talking about those worthless Presidential dollar coins. All this drives me

I don't think they ask all the others because as you said the others were waiting on other customers. It may be different if no other customers were doing their banking

It wouldn't hurt for them to ask for a quick second. I'm not saying that the other tellers have to immediately put down what they're doing and service me, but yeah you do make a good point (as I waited for about 10 minutes for that guy to give me the halves, and the woman I spoke to originally thanked me for my patience).
