Yesterday I dumped off a box of pennies and saw 8 40%s laying in a teller tray, needless to say they ended up in my hoard back at home.

Just picked up my first rolls of Halves from my local bank- usually just get Cents,Nickels and Dollar rolls. Out of six rolls (Bank-Wrapped) Found 1- 1969- 40% Silver and 1- 1776-1976 Bi-Cent in Mint Grade. Did better on these than my other daily finds! I may be changing to looking at more halves than anything else.

It's been really slow for me lately...only 6 40% in the last 4 weeks. But yesterday when I went to my local bank, the teller said she had one she saved for me (she knows I look for anything before 1970) so when I went over she handed me this... Well, today I will be bringing her a bag of Reese's mini cups!(she loves 'em). The REAL find is the teller who helps me!

Starman; Keep looking. The big finds can be any number of things. People cleaning out their dresser drawers in these tough times, a family member taking rolls of coin to the bank after a relative dies. Its just a matter of being at the right place at the right time! Don't give up.

Hello all! The other day I was finally able to get my hands on a full bag of 50 cent pieces from one of the coin counting machines. I know we all walk by the Coin Stars and think, "Only if I could buy the bag when it was full...." This coin counting machine is in my credit union, and I was turning in a dump when the bag filled up after putting in about $400 worth of halves. The manager came over and I offered to buy it and he said no problem......this got my heart pounding. I looked at the bag as they were changing it out and was immediately able to pick out the tell tale sign of some 40%s. I thought, bingo! Well to make a long story short, I got the bag and started to rummage through it. Here are the results. out of $1000, $400 of which I put in, so I was really only searching $600 fresh coins: 1 - 1945 Walker 1 - 1960 Bennie 5 - 90% JFKs 24 - 40% JFKs 1 - 1966 10 schilling Irish commemorative coin (really cool with edge lettering, have since learned it is celebrating "Easter Rising") 25 - Random foreign coins - highlights include: 2 pound bimetallic UK, 2 Dollars canada, saudi Arabia, 2 Mexico 1950s Un Pesos, and many others from all across the world. 10 - random carwash/arcade tokens The best part was when I went and made the dump of the bag, I was able to redeem it for $1000 less the US coins only, which means all the foreign and the random quarters/dimes that fell in were free! All in all it was a great haul! This sure beats the average fed Box (which for me is 3-5 silver/box). It was even better to be able to check the bag before it went to the Fed, as this was truly a sampling of what is being dumped into these machines daily. A lot of silver, some valuable foreign, and some great random coins from around the world, which made it educational AND fun! Happy Hunting!

Hi Everyone, I started reading this forum 3 weeks ago and all the posts got me excited about roll searching. I have searched 4 bank boxes so far. The 1st yielded 1-Franklin, 3-90% Kennedy's and 41-40% Kennedy's. The 2nd box from the same bank the next week was outstanding. It had 29-Liberty's, 23-Franklin's, 4-90% Kennedy and 7-40% Kennedy's. My 3rd and 4th boxes came from a different bank and only yielded a 1974-D without the FG initials on the back. I have already ordered another box from the 1st bank. I opened an account with a bank in town that has a coin counter in the lobby for dumping them back to the feds. I am really only interested in the silver coins, but would like to know which Kennedy's are worth pulling out to sell on ebay or somewhere else to generate more money for more rolls. Any and all comments and suggestions would be appreciated. Good luck to everyone with their searching. Thanks

The half without the "FG" listed above is actually a 1972-D. My typing error.

It is a small Suntrust bank. Not sure which armored service they use.
