Got my first 2 boxes this morning. Both skunk. Bummer. Then I got my 3rd box this afternoon. In the parking lot, I decided to open 1 roll. There were 2 silvers in it. So I just sat there in the parking lot opening the whole box. I found 4 Franklins! 2 of them came out of the same roll! I also found 21 40%ers. Best box I've had since January 13th.

Oh, and SmokeriderDon found 2 silver dimes at work today. WOOT! (Do I have to move that last sentence to another thread?)

I have my totals for that awesome box I did today. 302 40%ers, 1 1964. I honestly can't believe it. I let my wife and daughter enjoy the treasure hunt with me. I tried to keep some record as I went but my total written wasn't as big as the total amount. I ended up with ~ 10 double enders and 21 single enders. I think I only had 6 rolls without silver. The majority were 1967. By majority, I'm guessing close to half of them. Several 1966 and 1965's. A few 1968's and I only remember 2 1969's. I've been speculating on how these would end up in circulation, especially with the numbers the way they are.

Oh,and I got a second box that was a skunk but I was ok with that :)

WOW! Congrats on the amazing box! I would be happy with 10% of what you got, in a box.

Thanks NY Brian. I would have been happy with 10% too. I couldn't believe it when I opened that box and saw all that tell tell whitish silver. My first thought was "you got your silver goggles on" I picked that first one up and realized it was the real deal.

Viper, Be patient neighbor. You may get 5 skunks in a row and then boom...a good box. Poor Wrestling is on an unbelievable streak. If you do a few thousand and don't get anything, try a new bank.

Yeah I know Owassokie... I need to find a new one. Today in the skunk box I found I found an insane super bright brilliant mirrored bicentennial. But still no silver :(

YES!

I asked the head teller at my secondary bank today if they could order me some halves. I was really expecting to get the face is "oh no, here we go." Instead, she said she would order me two boxes and they would be here this coming Thursday!

I may move a little bit more money to this bank for this. I told her I could deposit them elsewhere if she would order them, but she said I could bring them back to the bank. She said she actually liked half dollars.

This could be the start of a beautiful thing, but I do plan on spreading the returns over a few local branches.

Now, back to searching a few rolls of machine rolled dimes as well as a few CRs.

I'm so jealous of all your finds! I started roll hunting about a month ago; pennies, nickels, dimes and halves - whatever I could get my hands on. My first hunt was $170 of rolled halves I got from the bank - all marked. I searched anyways and skunked. Then my credit union said they could order me boxes so I got super excited. First box I opened ready to find treasure and... skunked. Went back the next week to get my second box and the teller said she had spoken with the Brinks guy, who told her that they filter out all the silver. I actually drove away from the box all heartbroken, but then decided to give it a try anyway. Skunked again. I'm beginning to lose heart. I've found two Rosies in my dime hunt, and a 1909 as well as a 1919 Wheat penny. I've almost filled a book of nickels, but only one War Nickel so far. I'm just real discouraged because of the idea that Brinks is taking all the silver. Do you think he's just trying to get out of hauling an extra box of halves every week?

bdw9714, I know what you mean! My bank gets me a box of halves a week and they are always Brinks rolls, out of the six boxes I have gotten five have been skunks but the one box had 5 silver half dollars in it so either Brinks is doing a very poor job or they are not removing the silver. I also find on average 1 silver nickel per box (Brinks Box).

Hang in there and things will get better

Searched $13 from two banks yesterday but no luck.

I think the teller at the first bank was a collector so it was downhill from there.

Also, I hope my local bank does not get theirs from Brinks!

This is embarrassing but I don't know how to do pictures. I took a few with the digital camera but don't know how to even get them on the laptop. I did take a pic with wife's Iphone and she emailed it to me. I'll try to get that one on here. Oh, and the one bonze coin is a 100 f Polynesian coin. I don't know much about it but it converts to $1.10 US.
