One box today, landed two 40%'ers... My finds have slowed down tremendously and I am grateful that I am still pulling any at all. Hoping I'll come across another walker or frankie soon, it's been too long.

This high amount of halves is not going to be my normal order, just a jump start. After that I will get smaller regular orders in place with my various banks and their branches.

Gotta admire your spunk. I'll be interested in how things go down.

1StarLight-

Make sure you keep all the receipts from your dumping.

Federal law requires anyone receiving more than $10,000 cash to report the transaction, including your ID/SSN. Doesn't matter if you're doing it $1500 at a time, that's called structuring.

If your dump banks would pay you by check (made out to the supplying bank), it's not a cash deal.

I know two dealers who did time in the Federal Graybar Hilton, even though they both kept good records of where the deposited cash was from.

Tens of thousands in legal fees and a few months in jail isn't worth a day or two playing Screwge McDuck.

According to the bank it is $10,000 in one transaction.

That may be the way they play it, but it's not the law. Of course, if they're not keeping records, that's not your problem.

Keep in mind, the law also requires for any bank where you dump $10,000+ to get your info.

The key word is structuring. The idea is to prevent someone with $1 million in cash from taking it to the bank $9000 a day for a few months.

Rather not say "Eye toad u sew", so look it up.

Thanks Fred. My total personal funds do not exceed $2500. Can prove that very easily. The branch is aware that I am leveraging their money to complete the project. Will use a bank certified check from the dump bank to pay the buy branches. Am going to keep all receipts in a binder so there will never be a question in the future either. It will be the same money reflected each time on receipts until I get to the last few boxes which would of course be a smaller amount. While I have always enjoyed my stays at a Hilton I have no desire to visit the one you mentioned!
It has definitely never been about evading anything. It is about how to use what funds I actually have. The bank ordered me what supplies (coins) I wanted and is graciously allowing me to pick the shipment up in increments I can afford and a weight that I have the help to handle.

I'm still new to posting here but I occasionally check out the posts here. Just thought I would say that I just went through 3 boxes. Two were skunks and the third had one 40% and a 1907-O barber that was pretty wore down. The barber was a first for me ! I didn't care that it was in bad shape, it was a cool find ! I get another 3 boxes this Thursday so I'll have to let you all know what I get in them.

A Barber? Ok, seriously nice find no matter what condition just to find something that old. I'm not the jealous kind but I am happy for you and hope to have a few nice finds of my own to share soon.
Can you post a pic of the Barber so we can see it?

Im working on adding a new bank soon, iv got 5 boxes of skunks in a row, all brinks, I have 2 branches ordering me 2 boxes a week, I just told the one branch to stop after this weeks order. So this week iv got 4 more brinks coming, then after that just 2 boxes.

i was at a fifth third a few weeks ago, I'm not a member I asked for a box of nickels, they obliged, and pieced together 100$ worth, and gave them to me in the yellow loomis, strings and sons halve box. Well last week I was in another fifth third for nickels, and they were brinks, so I'm thinking of hitting the one branch up, throw 1000$ in a savings there if they will order me 2 boxes a week, just dont want to go through the hassle unless I'm getting the loomis boxes.

halfhunter, I hope you find what you're looking for regarding the banks. It is definitely a case of check and keep checking (pun intended).
The only full bank box I have sorted came from BB&T. It had the string and sons wrappers. Found one NIFC 2008. Just after my order, they came back and said BB&T corporate changed their policy. So now, you can only order if you are a business customer. My mom has a business account with a branch near where she lives. I may still get some from them through her later on. Depends on how my upcoming project goes.

My 14 year old godson is still reminding me that he gets to help me. I wouldn't have it any other way. His sister isn't really into coin searching yet but who knows. She might change her mind yet. His mom will help also on her days off. It is a team effort. She paid me first, last and next month's rent (yay!). So I won't have to wait until payday to get my first 12 boxes. I will be checking with that branch on Tues afternoon to see if they have them in. My helper will be out of school early enough to assist some and his mom will also be off from work. So we will have her help on this round as well.

My retirement comes this week too so all will be lined up for next week. All previous helpful advice is duly noted and greatly appreciated in how to handle the marathon. Gearing up for it now and keenly anticipating the finds even though I keep telling myself it will likely only be a few 40%'s. I hate being disappointed. It's so much easier to tell myself not to expect much and then get a nice surprise.

I love seeing everyone's posts on their new finds and the pics. Please, don't stop! Thank you, too, for all the helpful advice. Checking all the angles is a good thing. Better preparation that way.

Wish you all a wonderful evening or morning (depending on your time zone). Thank you for all the encouragement. It means more than most of you will ever know. I will do the best I can can to show I appreciate it with some pics of the coins and boxes (and boxes...)of coins....lol.

Any suggestions on what coin project should come after this one? Whatever it is will most likely be an April project so there is time for you to consider it and reply at your leisure.

Have thought about dimes but they are a bit tedious and then there are the quarters in order to finish our ATB collections, not to mention Presidential dollars........

Open to all ideas for the next project so fire away.......

OK, here's the Barber half I found in one of the 3 boxes I went through last week. Like I said, it's pretty scratched up and wore down but it was a cool find.....and I'll take silver no matter what shape it's in !
