Congrats on the Barber.

Boxes have been the yellow wrapped rolls - are those loomis or brinks?

Last 2 boxes - skunked - a few NIFC including a 2011. A few other ones in decent shape.
The 2 boxes before that - 1 40% - and that was about it.

That Barber is so cool, you will find that the barber has value beyond that of its silver content, if you wanted to sell it you could get far more than its weight in silver on ebay. In fact if you want to sell it I will give you $15 for it, that is more than its silver value :0)

I have not searched halves for a while so I decided to try my luck at it again, and I started off with $50 in machine rolls and found 10 40% halves and 1 1964 from a teller's tray.

I have pictures on my phone that I will upload later tonight, plus I have more details that you guys will like!

qktbird, Thanks for the pic! Awesome find! Numismedia.com lists that coin in G4 condition at $17 So that will give you an idea anyway of possible value. But hey, you already have an offer of $15 now. You could always put it up for auction if you decided to sell it and then upgrade to a higher grade coin of same year for your album. Sometimes, though, I have kept lower valued coins just because of sentimental value. Ultimately, either way, the choice is yours.

Bottom line, very nice find in the wild.

I ended up going back and getting another $120 in machine rolls and found an additional 7 40% and 1 1964!

Let me say that the last three pictures were taken after my second visit to the same bank where I found the 10 40%ers and 1 1964 half. Without any further ado, I present to you:

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

These two pictures are the opposite ends of the rolls with silver! I opened the side with the obverse first and I saw that the coin on the other end was 40% silver, so I took another picture of that. I had no clue that the other side was a silver.

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

The first one is two rolls that had 40% silver enders
The second picture is the most silver I found in one roll during my hunt today, which is 4 silver halves. All were 40%ers. Two of them were found stacked on top. Can you guys spot the 4 silvers? It may be hard to because of the sunlight.

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

I took a picture of this one because I had a feeling it was silver but I was not sure. When I opened the roll, it was indeed another 40%er.

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

This one is a first for me. It is the first time I have EVER found a single 1964 half dollar inside of a coin roll. I have found two Walking Liberty halves and a Franklin, but never a 1964 Kennedy until today, and to have yet another ender is just an incredible streak of luck. That is six silver coins on the ends!

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

So out of 18 half dollars (19 if you count the 1964 I got from a teller tray), 6 of them were found on the ends of rolls, with one roll having a silver on BOTH ends. Oh yeah and at another branch, I got $20 in nickels and one of those had a War Nickel on the end, but I only took a picture of the nickel after I unwrapped it. You can go look in the large nickel roll thread. I think this deserves four dancing fruits, don't you?!

Easily my 2nd best silver find ever. My best one is on page 582 of this topic.

I went to a town nearby that has lots of banks. The first two had a few halves, but nothing special. However, the third was a small bank where I've found 40% and Ikes before.

The teller said they had lots of halves in the vault. I bought a few and opened them in the car. Every roll had silver! I hit the ATM and got some more cash. I bought all the rolls they had. Almost every roll had 40%. I found 1 1964 and 23 40%!

My best find ever. I will have photos soon.

That is amazing, I would be getting the whole box if I were you, don't want anyone else getting their hands on those rolls.

Today went to cash in some regular change at one of my banks' coin machines and check the reject tray, of course, and a older couple was there with like 4 or 5 quart ziplock bags and I saw rolled dollar coins and halves.

I sidled up to them (Seinfeld) and immediately saw the white rim in the bag. Somehow, it's all a blurr, I got them to let me look through the halves bag. After quickly rim searching about 125$ in halves, with the teller there changing the machine bags and the guy and his wife, I found these:

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

Great way to start the week. Plus, 4 canadian quarters from the magnet on the machine.

Picked up 400$ in halves from my other bank that orders me halves, after I found out the girl who orders them for me is out for 2 weeks and didn't tell me, and I was supposed to get my 2 boxes last week.

So this $400 was from a box they ordered for normal customers, not me, but offered it to me since mine were not ordered. Got like 6 NIFC from them, including a 2010.

Will bring back to them tomorrow as we agreed. They also will order tomorrow 2 boxes for me, to arrive Friday. We'll see.

Good finds, everyone!

Here's a photo:

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

1 1964 (top left) and 23 40%.

Most were CWRs, and unsearched, so they had been in the vault a while! $380 in rolls, and almost every one had silver; some had 2 or 3. Some had been cut open and taped back together. If you look closely, one of the 40% is marked. Not a very good roll hunter.

TheDanMan,

The rolls you are showing seem to be the same I am getting from my local bank. In my first two boxes, I found one 1964 and I think three 40% coins along with a number of NIFCs.

Can anyone tell me the vendor for these yellow rolls?

The yellow rolls are probably Loomis. String & Son has yellow rolls, too, but they just make the wrappers; they don't wrap coins.
