Thanks for the info. I will ask my bank which supplier they use. I should have already done this.

So for those of you that know wrestling, I have a funny story. Him and I are buddies, he got me started in coin collecting, and I went to a bank here in town and got some rolls of halves... I found a 40% silver half and he has a skunk streak of over $30,000 lol

Not much of beginner luck, but it's not as bad as his lol

The marathon run (57 boxes) is next week. I am hoping they have my 12 boxes from the other branch in today. Have a chiropractor visit this morning so I will check after lunch. My understanding is that they will be in by Thursday at the latest this week but that it could be as early as Tuesday. Figured a smaller practice run wouldn't hurt....lol. Rent money came in so I don't have to wait 'til payday on Thursday to pick them up.

The 57 box marathon days are next week. After seeing all these wonderful new finds posted on the forum it has really got me excited to see what I get. I feel like a kid in the candy shop who was told 'pick whatever you want'...lol. They haven't called me back to say they changed their mind....lol.

After the marathon run I'm resting.... still waiting to hear any suggestions you all have on what April's marathon should be.....

I will still get me some MUCH smaller batches of coins to sort during the rest of March so I'm open to any suggestions on what that should be too.

Can't help feeling like another of our members whose name says it all "oh I hate to wait" (OI82w8).... not sure if I spelled that right

Imagination in action....next week

Well, the teller at my local bank confirmed my order of a box of halves and 2 boxes on nickels for Thursday. This will be my second box of halves, and I'm REALLY excited.

This might be my last box of halves for a while, though. The teller I'm dealing with (by e-mail and in person) is the one who I bought the Dunkin' Donuts gift card for. She seemed more than happy about it, and told me she would order boxes whenever I wanted, and that she was just doing her job. Last week when I went in for 2 boxes of nickels, I was with my girlfriend, and the teller seemed a little annoyed, but gave me her e-mail address to place orders to make it a easier. But during our e-mails, I couldn't help but notice that she was short, and still seemed annoyed. My girlfriend agreed. Unfortunately, this is probably my last box of halves for a while, I hope it will be a good one!

1Starlight - I can't WAIT to see what you get. I only wish I could be there to help unroll them with you!

Sorry to hear about your annoyed teller. Hopefully she will get over it soon and still help you get your orders anyway. If not and you have other banks in your area, it wouldn't hurt to check around and see if anyone else is willing to order. Sometimes just telling them upfront what the trade is, your money in an active account for their coins, can get the job done. Let them know what they can do to earn your business.

NYBrian84: Then again, flirting is cheaper then coffee; that's all I's saying.

Unfortunately per the Mrs I am not allowed to use dedicated cash for coin collection (I cannot use the rent). I can only use "my money". But the ceilling has been raised with the recent depost from uncle Sam. I am now a 2 box-a-week kinda guy. My first thousand at a time will be this Sat. I am a atitter with excitment.

Just got a call from one of the banks that I recently opened an account at and my first box of halves is in. This particular bank uses a different courier than my current bank so maybe my luck with boxes will change.

This bank I'm going through now is my girlfriend's bank. The reason we started with them is because we went in one day, I asked for loose halves, and she said she could order boxes if we wanted. I just don't get it. My girlfriend has been banking with them for years, and it seems to be one problem after another with them, so if this keeps up, I'm sure she will. Since she is already on her last leg with them.

There are 9 different banks on the same street as this one, and one is literally right next door, and two right across the street. All of the are within a mile of each other. I'm sure she is aware of this, and wouldn't want to lose her business.

I'm just hoping it is an off week, since things started off so well.

Cheaper in terms of monetary value, sure. But I'm not looking to search my rolls in the dog house if my girlfriend finds out.

I went to a local pawn shop the other day just for the heck of it. They had a "Presidents" type set for $5. Normally, that wouldn't be a good deal, but the half was a 1968. A BU 40% half for less than melt!

I stopped in at my bank for the first time in over a month to ask for halves. The merchant teller had $7.50 worth in his tray and I scored 3 40%ers, a 1966 and 2 1968's.

I picked up my box from my new bank (which uses a different courier) than my current bank and they are the rolls wrapped in the yellow and white String & Sons wrappers. I was so excited that I opened the box while on my way back to the office and opened one roll, scored a 1968 40% silver half. I can't wait to get home and search the rest of the box.

I went out and had fun today...lol. My buy bank said that my shipment is expected on Thursday so I decided to go out and play.... I collected halves and dollar coins today at several banks just to see what they had sitting loose on their trays. I didn't score any silver but I have several coins to add to our Presidential dollars album (two banks told me that the banks aren't going to be allowed to order dollar coins any more!?). I got several loose halves, several pres. and $50 in copper IKES (mainly 71 and 72). There was one teller who said... I don't have any of the Presidents but I am still stuck with these old ones with a woman on it and I'm so tired of them. I asked if they were bank rolls. She says "no, I don't think so." and then she proceeded to bring up her tray. It had 7 BU "direct from the mint" 2000P Sacagawea rolls. There are 7 uncirculated rolls. I said, 'well, if they're bothering you that much then I'll buy them all so you won't have to see them anymore". She was gushing her thank you the whole time I was heading out the door with them.
Later, I even stopped by the other branch where my 57 boxes are scheduled to arrive next week. When I mentioned to the teller that I was the one expecting the 57 boxes, she goes " oh, so you're the one! we've all been wondering who it is that ordered them. What do you intend to do with all those coins? There are so many.". I just said very quietly, I love to collect, my godson loves to collect and we have several other people who love to collect. She goes "oh, my, isn't that sweet". lol.........
