HalfHunter, I'm sure this has been discussed but what bank are you with?

All, I need some advice. I went through 3 more boxes this week from my bank with nothing. I'm not sure of the exact count but I'm at somewhere in the neighborhood of 28 or 30 boxes with only one single 40% coin to show for it (unless you count a guitar pick and worthless angel coin). This bank started out great. In one of my first three boxes I found 17 90% silver coins. I also found the monster with 302 40%ers. Mixed in the middle of those coins was pretty much 2 to 6 silvers per box. Then, all of a sudden, it goes dead. Now, I realize you have hot streaks and cold streaks but at some point this goes from being a bad luck streak to me needing to wake up to the reality that my bank or courier is simply giving me dump coins. Am I crazy to think that or just paranoid? I've went from 4 to 2 boxes per week. I'm considering going to zero. What should I do?

Owassokie it wouldn't surprise me if your bank had become a dump bank for someone. Try another branch, or even another bank. I'm considering going to First Citizen's because I saw a Loomis truck there one time. :)

YEEHAW!

Got my first box to roll search today!

I LOVE my bank! I asked them where I could get wrappers. They told me that anytime I needed any wrappers just to ask and they would supply them. However, if I preferred, they would just take them in raw and put them in their machine that wraps them instead!

I've GOT to give my tellers something special! Any suggestions?

How much squash could a Sasquatch squash if a Sasquatch would squash squash?

owass, I've basically had the same luck as you lately I've just gotten skunk after skunk till I basically just bother with 3 a week (this week my bank messed up those 3 ) so I'm basically doing dimes right now and I'm having pretty nice results with them. its true theres cold and hot streaks, but if you find its just not fun doing the halves, its ok to take a break thats what I'm doing now
Rest in Peace

rotated reverse update.

the coin checks out, nice sound, 11.2-11.3g, no "magic" seams. I must have scanned this one for a half hour or so and compared to another '73. it even has some MD on the reverse lettering.

Now just a matter of sending it in. Not sure when though.
I doubt you'd get enuf more to justify the time and effort to TPG.

Additionally, the obverse seems to be the inset side. From "R" to "3", it looks like the field and rim are separated by a hairline crack. If you can see it, follow it around the inside of the rim.

2 boxes today. I knew both would be skunks. As soon as I saw the black and white wrappers I knew I had a couple of bad boxes.
Sure enough.

Today I found a penny in my roll, at first I was excited to earn a penny since I wasn't finding any silver... then I counted them. I realized there was a penny in place of a half dollar... I LOST money. I may be giving up this hobby of hunting, it's costing gas and short change without any silver :(

My very first 1964 d!

Didn't even know the mint mark is found on the back! I pulled a '64 out of a roll and said, "Cool." Later tonight I was checking it out while my child was pitching a fit, and there it was...a mint mark on the back?
Sure enough!

AH.............

I don't think that anyone is actually looking at the updates due to the enormous number of pages in this forum.

2 boxes yielding a 1993 clad proof and a 2003d. Sorry, no picture. I have stopped calling what I do "searching for silver" and started calling it "searching for 'something'".

Bishftl,

Nice find there.

I would weight it and have it graded. Very cool. Very, very, cool!

Earle42,

If you will take a knife, you can gently pry open the ends of the rolls. Then simply press the bottom part of the roll from the bottom and the coins will all come out. Doing this at an angle is easiest.

Then, you can simply place the coins back in the original wrappers when you are done. The machine rolls are quite sturdy and you save yourself a LOT of trouble and time by doing this.

As for the tellers, gift cards are always a good idea. Prepaid Visas are probably the easiest to obtain.

Personally, I gave my head teller a Gift Card to a Walmarts which neighbors her bank. She appreciated it.

Wow, nice! Someone dug them out of the basement or attic. I talked to a teller today who said she got $300 in rolls from a guy cleaning out his attic about a year ago. What I wouldn't give for a time machine...
