I had posted here a couple weeks ago that I saw a 1934A $500 bill while hunting for halves. Several people told me to go back and get it. I went back, and they still had it. I also got $285 in Ikes the bank had. The Ikes didn't yield anything, but I got $125 over face for the note...

Wow - great finds everyone. I am hoping my next couple of boxes start to yield more than what I have been getting recently.

I think Monday I will just visit every bank I see until I find one that has silver.
Also, I am just on the edge of withdrawing my funds from the previous supplying bank - not for cutting the halves but for the deceitful manner in which they did it.

Mtl,
I have that exact cart! Love it. But how does it handle with that large a load? Most I've had on mine is 6k.

This week I put 9000# in Halfs on it. It wasn't pretty but it held. NEVER PUSH... ALWAYS PULL. It has paid for itself three times over a week for close to a year now. Side note... I have made a couple of custom carts for the banks I deal with. My family is in the metal business, so I have made heavy duty narrow carts that'll fit in doors as well as big wheels (6 inches) ill post some pictures Monday when I get back to work. Have a good weekend everyone. Happy hunting.

Just got my first $500 box of halves from the bank.
Found a 1967 40% and a nice looking 2006 P with toning =)
Glad my first box wasn't a skunk!

I can try for pics later, but I have been finding some gold/yellow toned JFKs in decent condition. I have found enough that I think it is a natural thing. Is this kind of toning something people are interested in? Personally I am old fashioned and like bright mint luster instead of colors so I know little of what people like in toned coins.

Boxes 525-528
Went to get nickels and the bank forgot to cancel my regular order of 4 boxes of halves. I took them so I wouldn't have any problems with the new managers. Surprisingly not one marked or painted coin. Not so surprising, I didn't find much.

To Earle42 -- I just found 2 of those "gold-toned" JFKs in an otherwise skunk box. Never saw this before; don't know what the deal is. There's a coin show where I live later today, so I'm going to take them there and see if I can find out what they represent.

I think a lot of the gold toned halves were put out by Littleton Coin Company.

kenscott - What did Littleton do - plate existing circulation coins? If so, with what? Are these halves worth anything beyond FV?

To Earle42 - Just got back from the coin show. Showed my "gold-toned" halves to a couple of the old salts there. They said that it looked like some _______ (you fill in the blank) plated a common circulation half and that it has the same value as one of those halves that some idiot wrote on with a magic marker or did up with a can of spray paint.

We need to find the knuckle-heads who are spray-painting all these coins....

Kenscott and FatFreddy...
Just to make sure I am not causing confusion - these are not plated. I have found some gold plated ones in good condition and some with varying degrees of the gold plating being worn off. in varying degrees of the gold be worn off.
I will try to get some pics soon and post them. I am not sure I can capture the toning though or not.
