Wrestling, all it takes is one lucky hit to score big. I spend most of my days driving from bank to bank looking for coin to search. To each their own. I'm creeping up on 400oz on the year... 400 ounces. That's what? $12k in silver? Worth it to me. :)
Hit about 30 banks today, only found 1 40%er... think I'm done with that stretch of banks, I'm pretty sure the tellers cherry now. Couple years ago, that run used to steadily produce $5-$10 face in silver halves. Shame.
Did find a 40% '76 Ike and Ken proofs too, that was a nice surprise. :)

Haha, wanna buy my rejects? I usually find about $500 per week, keep maybe 10% of what I find as higher end coins. Got $250 or so to dump tomorrow or Thursday somewhere...

thanks everyone for the kind words, and yea wrestling youre looking at it from the glass is half empty scenario its the thrill of the hunt finding goodies, yea for months I found nothing almost gave up a few times including last week but then I would secretly miss the excitement I dont even think about the gas/dumping I guess turning my finds into morgan dollars/bullion eagles makes it all worthwhile

If I had the extra cash, I would. I know that I would never dump, trade, or sell them. Once I bought them, that money is permanently gone from my spending pool. This is why I am afraid to ask tellers if they have any bags in the vault.  |

RE: Ikes... I find them regularly too. Tellers are super glad to get rid of them. I find a few hundy a week and dump on ebay or ecrater. Edited by agibby5

Bank Teller said, "I saved these for you"...2--1967's, 1--1968, and 1---1969....looks to be from a personal coin collection, as they are in great shape....question on one of the 1967's....it is wayyyyyyyy overweight, at 11.90 grams,(the other is 11.16 grams...go figure!!) and, side-by-side to my other 67's, is 25% thicker on rim, sticks out like a sore thumb, thickness-wise!...is there a "Thick Planchet" error for KHD's, as is a "Thin Planchet", from other denominations?....heck, just 60 more grams, and it would have been a Hawaiin vacation coin...can post pics, but, pretty straighfoward here.

I just broke my $7k skunk streak. I found 35 40%ers in 5 boxes this week. I was just about to take a break for a while. I've been skunked on the last 5 boxes of dimes too... so it's been dismal of late.

Whats up wrestling, still not much luck huh. I even shared my all inclusive secret stratagies with you IV got my system down, for pick up drop off, no more then 1.5 hours a week, if that.(not counting searching) I already drive 30 minutes to my shop for work, and all banks are no more then 5 minutes off my normal route thats it. I'm at 100$ a week average in silver finds in 10 monthes, not to bad. I pay nothing for boxes or dumps, I do reroll all halves, and buy wraps for 4.15$ per box of 1000(10,000$ worth of coin 20 boxes)), it did take some time to get it down. Not slamming on the guys that do 50 boxes, but IV got a wife and a life, so to speak, I could do 50 a week, but that takes the fun hobby part of it away, and commits me much more then I want to. I'm only doing 50 boxes a week because I want to buy a house next year and this is an "easy" way to get a down payment going. I figure if I hoard and sell my 90% to cover the down payment, I should have $20k-$30k easy this time next year. Throw in half my bankroll ($5k or so by that time) and then maybe $10k from my fiancee, and I'm looking at being dang close to 20% down, which eliminates PMI, which saves me $200/month. If I buy a $250k house, I'll need $50k... and I'll roll search until I find that $50k. I'll probably keep roll searching afterwards too, I should be able to buy myself a nice kitchen and bathroom with 2 years worth of profits, as my friend is a GC and will take it on as a side job.
The biggest volume searcher I know just got cut off from dumping at the same bank I dump at, so I'm dropping my volume to 30 boxes a week (15 bags over two branches, 7-8 bags per week per branch, they should be fine with that) and am going to have to figure something out in terms of dumping the rest of my bags if I want to increase my volume. I'll gladly pay to dump too.

My situation is a bit different than most. I have a lot of time on my hands. I enjoy sorting out the possible double die coins and looking for upgrades for pieces I already have. The fun of he hunt is what I like so much. I am not in it to try to make a great profit as much as just find some of the collectable items. The random impaired proof and silver are just an added plus. Probably after one year I will sell the PMs and use them to buy one of the key WL halves I do not have or get that beautiful 1998 Matte Proof 1998S SMS JFK. The bank is only 3 miles from my house so gas money is negligible. Plus it gives me an excuse to get out of the house and visit with my really nice bank tellers. They know my wife and I and bend over backwards being nice to us. @fadetoblack - smart - very smart - free money towards a house. In one of the former posts in this thread I mentioned a friend of mine who was doing that kind of volume and the tellers called him to come get some special rolls they had come in. He got an entire set of MS FBL Franklins someone had rolled up and dumped (or stolen and dumped  ). |

No silver but got a coin that is bulged or bubbled on each side. The opposite side is not indented so I dont think it is post mint damage. I will attempt to post a picture
