@Murphey - Awhile ago I took a large basket of chocolate bars in to the head teller, with a thank you card, and asked her to put it where everyone could enjoy them. Also, at the start I learned the head teller has a little boy, Having been a teacher, I love kids so I wanted to do something for him. Instead of getting his interested in coins though, I sent home with his mom a nice glass insulator, an issue of the monthly insulator magazine magazine, and the address where kids his age can send and get some better pieces/colors of insulators for free from a major insulator collector. I figured sparking an interest in coins might be counterproductive.  How much squash could a Sasquatch squash if a Sasquatch would squash squash? Earle42, I also take in gift cards for candy to the tellers that go out of their way for me.
On a side note, my drive to and from work takes me by many power poles that have old insulators still on them. These poles are on Railroad property and are no longer in use. I know they are collectible and cannot figure why they have not been removed yet.

I know of a stretch of old insulators that are still up and not in use and there are a lot of purple ones, I have often wondered if I would get in trouble if I took the quad, trailer and ladder and liberated them from their perches.

@yvairguy Purple insulators in the air is VERY uncommon nowadays. After 9/11 it really became hard to collect insulators un the wild. Judges awarding ridiculous cases for suing individuals has also made the RR Companies very wary. I once was able to procure permission to collect (with an RR Co official with me) on the Erie line in NY, but they did this only b/c I was actually researching history of the glass used on that line. The least expensive purple insulator will say Whitall Tatum on it and sells around 20 - 25.00 each. The next price group )vaious makes and names on them) will be 30-40.00. After that the next tier is close to 200.00 each, but most are 400-500.00+ once you get past the 100.00 level (excluding Canadian varieties not used in the States). If you can take some pics (zoom in if possible so I can ID them), I can advise you whether or not to pursue them. PM me if you want to do this - it could well be worth your time. I know people who have made good money this way. @Murhpy In Y2K it was CSX's goal to get all poles down along the the RR right of ways (they own most of it now). They have been working very hard to do this and have accomplished quite a bit of it. No more sunlit, glowing jewels in the sky to see during sunset and sunrise  Anyway, On the train trip I just got back from, in The Rockies I positively identified a couple 200.00 pieces still on poles in remote areas (likely why they are still there). But just last year I had a friend find a $1200.00-1500.00 - not just price guide value - easily sold. The year before was an 800.00 piece. So you never know. Get me some pics where I can see the profiles and I can help you to ID what might be there. But one really never knows b/c even common ones can have factory errors such as inclusions (yes - coins have been found encased in insulators as legitimate - accidentally made pieces!. Some have also been fond with impressions on top of IHC's, LWCs, and others where the workers at the factory dropped a coin in the mold before pressing the glass in (could have lost their job over it also so it was rare)! BTW - just for kicks, every person I know in the insulator hobby has within the first 5 years found at least one multi-hundred (sometimes a lot more) piece either in the wild, at garage sales, flea markets, etc.! holy cow Earle I had no idea, I had a few around I will have to go look and see what I can find, a few light purple still on their wooden posts and part of the cross bar, also some purple on metal posts, I haven't seen them in years, I hope I didn't toss them or give them away now, crazy.
The one's I know about were still there about 2 years ago and all the copper had been pulled, they are along some remote train tracks in the mojave desert, some of the lower ones have been pulled but there were plenty of poles still full. If I get the chance to go metal detecting and prospecting in the area this Spring I will have to check them out.

I'll try to get some pictures of them. I only have a cell phone to take pictures, but I'll see how they turn out. Also, since 911, the RR cops are a little leery of people taking pictures near the trains. I may know someone that's works for the RR. A friend of a friend kind of thing. I'll keep you posted.

Took my 2 skunk boxes I did Wednesday to the bank to cash them in. I asked the teller if she had any halves she had 4 one was a 1967 so dirty it did not look like silver.
That is the first silver half I gotten from a teller in a long time.

4 boxes - nothing once again brutal month for boxes
50 in CWR's finally produced though for me 14 40s 2 90s first decent score for me for the yr. I'm going to do around 4-6 boxes a week (way too much for me to do any more than that like I used to yrs ago)

Nice score on the CWR's, I haven't hit jack in my CWR's since November first when I pulled a full roll of Bens. I typically hit a big score every 6-8 months, and my last was back on July 20th... overdue!
Probably gone through like, $2k or so in CWR's since.
