Does anyone know a good way to clean up proof coins? I scored a 1983, 88, and a 90 from a box. I want to start an all proof album, but I want them to look good. Any suggestions? Here's pics below:

Soak in covered pure acetone for 24 hours then a quick dip in your dip of choice, followed by a rinse in HOT water and pat dry... then 24 more hours in pure acetone.

I am with you wrestling my bank konows me well and I still catch flack for picking up one box a week so I get another box at another branch each week but still hear it from them I just do not want to wear out my being able to order so I keep it to my one box a week from each branch. They also mentioned that the armored truck driver is also starting to grumble and this is from one box

Way to go bishftl. Congrats. I quickly went through 2 of my 4 boxes today. I should have been working but I couldn't help myself. It's a good thing I'm the boss. Found 2 40% and over a roll of NIFC. I'll have a detailed look at them tonight. Along with the other 2 boxes. Good luck everybody.

"Armored truck driver is grumbling" don't you love it when people complain about having a job, and doing the job they were hired to do.........

Question: Do these half dollars in a box come in paper rolls so you can put them back or do they come in those plastic rolls that have to be torn into and can't be reused? If it's plastic, I need to order some paper rolls.
Thanks.

The sooner your bank realizes they exist to serve the customers needs, not their own needs, the better, gold panner. I wouldn't hesitate to escalate the issue to branch managers or if that doesn't work, the corporate customer service management team. Any time I've been given crap about picking up boxes, it hasn't lasted long... they either cut the crap and treat me nice and with respect, or I close my account and move my business elsewhere.

Well only 4 boxes today and 3 rolls in 40%, "skunked my way though" last roll 1 90% ken. I'm glad I eliminated a bank this week, one less stop, and two less boxes from one supplier. I added 2 more to the other supplier. Next weeks mission find that oddball dunbar bank in my town, I'm gonna call them, just keep forgetting to during their open hours. Since novemeber iv gotten half the silver from my 8 box a week supply as my 6 box,my 3 month audit I did tells me to tweek it a bit.

halfhunter, your 3 month audit, sounds like you are doing some serious record keeping, I started that way, said it was too much to keep up with and now I am back to wanting to track everything to really see if anything this is paying off and what is hitting better than the next.

yva, I use a spreadsheet to track everything... What's the point in investing time and effort if you're not sure as to how it's paying off? Here's my YTD tracking for halves, not including today, which had a nice surprise.

Six boxes today, 2 40%ers, and one oddball box that gave up 11 BU '64's. Weird, where are the rest of those boxes?!

@colles Look at this thread where I used a coin brightener called MS70 on an impaired proof I found in a roll. I figured it was only eve going to be worth .50 so it was worth a try. Since this I also did a 2003 and 2006 proof I found in circulation that had some bad gunk on them that I knew acetone would not touch. You can still see where the gunk was when you tilt them just right - but I really like it. If the proof had been worth something, I would not have done this. https://goccf.com/t/138854

2 boxes today, not the 4 I ordered, there was a gold plated 71 that was trashed and I did pull the best proof I have taken yet, a 76 that somehow survived pretty well. So another skunked day for halves.
Fade I like that spreadsheet, I guess I will put one together before next week. Do you just pull sliver or do you search for errors and proofs?

I also pull proofs and stuff like that as well, yes. I just don't note it, the spreadsheet is for tracking silver finds and calculating potential profits. I probably have at least half a dozen rolls of proofs, a few clipped planchets, and a couple of Kens that are missing either portions or the entire nickel layer. :)
