Pnc dimes rock around here, but their halves absolutely have been sucking for the last 3 monthes (garda). They have change machines at about 20% of the branches and I think thats why they used to be so good, now I think thats why they are so bad. Iv widdled them down from 14 a week to just 6 this week. Sucks they are a good pick up bank for sure, only ever had one branch refuse to order after 2 weeks, only because of vault size.

Hey all, been out of touch for over a week, had a storm here in pa/oh. Some great finds by all! I finally found time to go through the six boxes picked up 2 weeks ago, ton of nifc, 4 franklins, 3 40%, and 2 90%. Which ends a mini drought for me. So, I have a unique problem, and want to find suggestions. I have a pickup bank willing to order whatever I want literally. I have a dump bank that will take whatever I dump without complaint in a machine. I have a nice hand cart. I have the capital to deploy for 30 boxes at a time or more. What I don't have is a truck, with shocks good enough for that weight or the time to go through it all. Anyone ever worked with a partner or thought about it?

MOnks,

Thanks my friend. When taking a break from halves, I have found dime to be a nice alternative.
Tellers are more than happy to give them to you and CWR have produced around one silver per every $250 for me.

Yet, there is just that something extra about halves.

I hope you enjoy your rest.

7 boxes today, 2 bens, 5 '64's, 8 40%, including a '69-S proof, and 10 regular proofs. Also pulled a 1983 50 pence and a 1966 (80% silver!) Canadian half.

Found someone's 2 boxes at a Bank of America today, went home and got the cash and bought them. they were really dumpy so far, have another $250 to go tonight.

Also found 25$ in CWR and $10 in Ikes. May have one Ike keeper, all the halves I already dumped, nothin good. It's fun thought going to new banks in diff towns. One teller took my card and promised to call if they get halves; she wants to get rid of them.

PNC in my area doesn't allow you to do anything unless you have an account.

Might be worth the $100 to open one.

Nice score on the 11 64's!!

No one's ever called yet, but someday they will. This last girl I gave my card to, she asked ME for it, so it may happen.

I do hit them enough that they are saving stuff for me, I picked up 1100 in mint rolled and bagged State Quarters and buff nickels. I should probably just put them on ebay or something.

I picked up two boxes of the '05 buffs a year back... still sitting in my closet, ha.

I did the business card thing for a while, works great... you just have to give them like, 10 cards. Haha.

Seelinger- how much will all those weigh? That should be ok if you space them around in your car, like 15 in the trunk and 10 in the back seat and 5 in the passenger seat.

Todays 6 boxes were nice

Again attack of the brand new 1995's, with some silver mixed in, this box was over half 1995 brand new coins, with many solid rolls, but some goodies mixed in, liked this roll with the ben mixed in.

How do you know that they're proofs? I have a hard time between a shiny coin and a proof. Any way to tell?

Thanks.

@Kurrykid: A good sign is an S mint mark for newer years. Other signs are a frosty Kennedy/Eagle with a mirror (read reflective) background. For research, especially for halves, start moving backwards through this thread. LOTS of images of proofs in different conditions.
