Tried halves again. Found about $400 in cwr. When the tellers brought them back from the vault I spotted a 40% and a 61-d loose .. I was shocked. I thought the teller would of picked up on that. Anyway, kinda let down thinking the rest would give up more, but alas, nothing else.. buy I did score 4 dimes on my dime haul

SDcoinguy,

I have had some decent luck with CWR dimes over the last few months. The only real finds of silver were the 11 1964s I got from a teller's tray a few weeks back.

Hope to order my first boxes in months this week from PNC where I now have a new account.

Congrats on the PNC account, KenScott, they're a great bank. Not just for coins, but in all regards, an all around great bank.

My route got jacked up 2 weeks ago. One of the armor car companies changed their delivery times for security reasons.

MY weds pick up that was always there by 9:30 came at 4:15, then last week 3:45, and my friday by 10 am, turned to 1 pm, and 2:30. IT sucks, made it somewhat inconvienant for me.

Im 99% sure garda delivered my brinks boxes last friday. My bank called me at 2:30 to tell me they were there. I was at the bank in 5 minutes, and the garda truck was out front. Its a grocery store branch. I grabbed my shopping cart, went in and the garda guy was filling the atm. He had told me in the past garda brings the brinks boxes, so I dont know.

Opened box #5. Was very worried immediately when I noticed someone had marked up an ender with a red pen. Was less worried when I found a 1969-d in the first roll I opened.

Funny I found the most marked coins I have ever seen AND the most silver. Either my local hunter friend doesn't know that 65-69 is silver or I got lucky on the mix.

Results:

4x 1969-d

Very happy with those results!

I got my bag of $1k half dollars. Just like last time, it was bag that came directly off a bank's coin counter. This one was from a credit union in an OKC suburb. The last one was in an OKC suburb as well. The similarities didn't end there. This one had a hole in almost the exact same location but I don't think it was big enough to remove or lose a coin. There were no obvious silver from the outside so I began digging right in the middle. Sure enough, when I reached the middle, I grabbed a 67 and WLH (47) in the same hand full. Next handful, another WLH (41). Couple minutes later, another 67. I found my last 67 towards the bottom of the bag for a total 3 67's and 2 walkers.

I feel like there's a really good chance to hit a big lick with one of these. I'm excited.

Btw, I've found tons of junk in both bags too. Buttons, safety pins, unrecognizable smashed coins, cents, nicks, dimes, and quarters. One smashed coin kind of sounds like silver.

Since I have only been looking for the 1971_d FS-101 DDO for these last 8 boxes, I have to wonder if these are not all that hard to find.

I know the FS-102 is very common.

It is still hard to believe I have not encountered a 1972 DDO after almost 5000 of them!

My PNC let me order ONE box, then accused me of money laundering! No silver either! Just my 50,000 cents worth...

Had a great week of halves last week.

8 boxes

42 40%
24 90% including 4 2009 S Silver Proofs

All silver came out of 3 boxes. Other 5 were skunks.

Can't wait for this weeks boxes.

Earle,

I have NEVER found a single Doubled die.
That's in 175,000 coins.

I have found lots of other small errors, and lots of 1971
doubled chins, but never on the the letters.

I gave up searching.

Killer haul danmc.

Pnc has been pretty solid to me. Ordered from 4 branches, and only one wouldnt do it anymore after 2 weeks, small vault, and I picked up delivery day. Still use them twice a week for 6 boxes, and the one branch that stopped me, I dump all my cwr dimes and quarters there once every 2-3 weeks, in the coin counter, no problems with that at all, very nice.

So far the people at my preferred PNC seem to be very nice. This being said, I have not officially asked for the halves yet but have been told they can order some for me.

Not sure how many they may order, or how often, so I will start it out slow at two boxes which I think is their minimum order. If they accuse me of money laundering, it will not go over so well.

@Bernie Z

I admit I have an actual stereoscope I use with a close light on the coins as it seems to make them a bit easier to spot. But I quit even looking or the 71-D FS-102s b/c it seems about 1/3 to 1/4 of all 71_Ds I find are this DDO. It also is hard to see unless you look at the two places shown in the pic. I admit I am not impressed with this DDO though just b/c it is so hard to see.

I also learned a trick just this last week. When I put the coin under the stereoscope, I point the leg of the R in TRUST directly at the light source. The notching "trough" up the R's curved leg really stands out this way.

Here is part of an email another person on this thread mailed me after I bought one from him (sorry I don't remember your CCF name - only your real one!):

I cant figure out either why you havn't found any of these 72 P DDO's.

We are only a few hundred miles apart so its conceivable that they are in your zone of searching also!

Anyway, I'm glad I remembered you and enjoy the coin!
