Dumped my coins in a town today that I have found loose halves in. Went in to the two banks and they had nada. But, I did find out that they have a great coin machine, that takes $1,000 before a bag change and it's free to cust and non cust.

So, finding no CWR, I headed to my bank for my boxes. Last week, they offered me 6 rolls of CWR, which I bought, and me and the tellers joked about who already went through the rolls they were dumping on me. No silver, but definitely not dump coins. They were from someone's stash.

So today, they said, we have 3 more rolls. I took em. Checked em out in the parking lot. First roll I opened:

Other two had some nice coins, stash again, but no Ag. As Ice Cube said, "Today was a good day." Thanks, Ice.

I just finished going through my 3rd box of halves. So far, I've found a grand total of 1 Ag coin. That's 3000 coins searched and 1 40% '68 Kennedy half. God, I wish I could go back in time and do this. :D Maybe I should just be hoarding my nickels and stop wasting my time. I am beginning to prefer the smell of metal on my hands though.

Stopped at Citibank and asked for halves. My teller had a single clad coin and when I asked her to check with the other teller he reported he had $3.00 worth. My teller walked over to collect them and said, "these are half dollars?" She confirmed that indeed they said "half dollar" on the back. She wondered if they were silver, commenting that she "would have kept them" if she had known. Apparently she felt an obligation to sell them to me since I asked first.

The coins in question were two Walking Liberty halves, dated 1945 (VF grade) and 1928-S (VG). I'm glad I stopped in!

@BenrieZ,

Just a bit south of there. :) I am in Western North Carolina in the Asheville area.

Sadly, I am not aware of any decent places to sell coins, silver, or gold in this area. When I am offered $14 for pieces worth around $150, and offered $800 for pieces with a fair market value of around $2400, I know to look elsewhere. Problem is these quotes came from two of the largest buyers in the area.

Anyway, moving onto coins, I plan on hitting a local CU branch which has been fruitful in the past but which I do not often frequent. Hopefully, they will have some more CR halves. Also, I may check a closer branch where I tend to find some silver dimes from CR they often have.

6 boxes today.

I rim searched one box after work no silver then had to cut out to make it in time for the monthly coin club meeting.

After the meeting I searched the 4 boxes I took home with me and I found:

A few NIFC.

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

2 more sticker coins for my reject Kennedy collection. One has a price tag for $1.97 and the other says "I came back in change from Peter Pieper New Berlin (WI)"

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

2 PMD halves, one with a few whacks to the head.

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

Another coin with a message engraved on it to add to my reject Kennedy collection. It reads "From Betty H 1988"

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

And finally some SILVER.

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

OK. I picked those up at the coin club meeting tonight.

My true lowly silver finds. I still have 1 box left at work to go through tomorrow morning.

I went through my two boxes yesterday. Out of the first $750 worth I found nothing, no NIFC, no proofs, no silver. Then out of nowhere in the middle of the roll is one lonely piece of silver. I pull it out and I find my first Walker! A 1944 Walker to be exact. Made my day to find that coin, that is the oldest half I have ever found out in the wild. I scored a '67 in the second to last roll and that was it. Still not one NIFC or proof coin in either of the boxes.

So I went through the $470 in CWR I picked up yesterday and I am pretty confident it was someone's dump. The only thing I found was my last hole-filler, '91-P, besides the '64 P&D and the 87 P&D (also not including the NIFC from 02 & up).

I am also looking to sell some of the 40% halves I found earlier this week and had a few questions.

If I sell by the roll, how do you typically package a full roll for shipment?

And how much does shipping typically cost for a full roll?

While I'm asking, how do you typically package a single coin for shipment?

I searched 4 half dollar boxes today and all I found was one 1969-D. I found it right off the bat in the first box, first roll. How depressing to start hot and then...nothing.
