Here's a thought on why so many NIFC are in circulation. I'm going to guess that perhaps coin dealers that buy the JFK halves by the bag will holder the nicest coins and sell them for $2-5 each and dump the rest in circulation, because there isn't a lot of collector interest? Some of this could be collectors also doing the same thing- buying bags and trying to sell what they can way above face, and dumping the lower quality MS coins into circulation.
Even though the mintages from 2002-present are very low, there aren't enough collectors of JFK halves to generate interest I guess.
I do know that my local coin shop will not buy JFK halves above face value, even if they are all BU. He dumps them into a counter and deposits them to the bank.

I had 1 1968 D from a Fed box last week. I've had a really dry spell for a while now. The first couple of boxes I had about 10-12. I'm hoping that old man Rafferty decides to dump some walkers for the next fed box I pickup.

Since I did pretty decent my last 2 boxes, I've decided to get another box this week.
I'm not doing that good with Lincoln's and especially lousy with Jefferson's, so I'll increase the box count on the halfs as a change of pace until this goes dry etc.
Post the results later in the week.

Findings:

Don, as always, you continue to impress me with your hauls of silver! Congrats. Are they Fed boxes or Brinks boxes? If they are Fed boxes, do the rolls all have yellow and white NF String wrappers?

These were from 2 different banks.
I had 2 yellow boxes with yellow 'String' wrappers. These 2 boxes didn't have any silver. But that's not always the case, I've had some great boxes of this type, these 2 boxes just happened to not. The other 4 boxes were Brinks which had all my findings yesterday.
But I've also had 10-12 Brinks boxes in a row that have been skunks.

Went to bank today looking for 10 rolls and was disappointed to find they only had 10 dollars worth unwrapped in the till. So I took that. Out of 20 possible I got 5 which where pre 71!

$500 searched yielded 7 40% halves, and the famous 1972d silver plated one. Its chrome plated or painted or something

I had a 1976 S in a Fed box yesterday. Nothing else :(. How do I tell if it is the clad or 40% silver? I don't have any scales to weigh it.

I also forgot to mention it is COVERED in gunk. I was barely able to tell it was a proof. Lots of green stuff on it.

Sounds like someone had it stored in an old PVC flip or album page for a long time. They cashed it in it when they discovered it was damaged!

My routine bank rounds netted me a 1964 from a teller tray today. The few rolls were skunks.
