1914 5 dollar in MS64 a single coin. In 63 32 coins. Interesting after all the hoard is out how few that ICCS called gems. 1912 has 5 in 65 none higher. In the Ten dollars the gem pop is as follows 5 coins in 65 or better 1912 2in 66 2 in 65 1914 a single 65.
I know a lot of these coins were sent to PCGS and there are many in 65 , but I wonder how they would cross grade? Appears that real GEMS are still very very elusive.
Have a great day everyone it is a gorgeous west coast day ..........top down and off we go!

Thanks Pacific for the 5 dollar gold info.
Personally I enjoy and collect ICCS and PCGS graded coins as I feel they are the premium north american grading companys. There are other good grading companys but these are the two I collect.
I find the population reports from ICCS and PCGS to be a real head scratcher for the 1914-5 dollar gold.
ICCS MS63...32
MS64...1

PCGS MS63...228
MS63+..49
MS64...73
MS64+..11
MS65...3

So have all the best examples just happened to been graded by PCGS, or do these two companys grade this gold series differently.

Realistic answer is they grade totally differently. We have been down this road in the past . I will behave myself and just say that PCGS takes all aspects of the coin into consideration and ICCS takes the old fashioned technical approach.
If you are sharp enough you can take full advantage of the two approaches. There are amazing Eye appealing coins in PCGS holders that have way too many marks and get 65 and there are technically mark free ugly coins in ICCS 65 holders. Who has the right answers? To stay out of hot water, I am not going there! All I will add is that both the CCN trends and Charlton prices are based on ICCS graded coins. Mike Findlays Pink sheet prices both ICCS and PCGS , at different levels.

Hey Jack, did you notice the change in the lowball silver dollars for ICCS?
