Is the Landon hoard reflected in that population report?

Its very easy for me to collect a whole bunch of coins from the 1970`s 80`s and 90`s in high grades. In the year 2115 when I'm dead they will mention MY hoard in the ICCS population report and unlike Mr. Landon's coins mine will be 100 years newer. Is this an ethical way of thinking or do I need to collect the same ones George Landon collected because if so that is pretty much impossible. I should start my own thread about this Landon stuff!

I did not start this thread specifically for Landon. In response to Normic if you collect today's finest knowns and make a name for yourself sure in a hundred years your stuff will be famous on a different level. Sad part none of us here will be able to help you celebrate. One thing I am gleaning from my very early study is how condition scarce some of the coinage up to even the early 1960 s truly is. I have pulled out a 2013 ICCS report for comparison purposes and aside from the Landon stuff and a few roll hoards that I personally have been a part of there is not a lot of increases in pops at the higher ends. As an example the population of 1917 Canada Ten Cents in 2013 in MS 65 was 18 pieces now in 2015 24 coins. In MS66 there were 2 pieces in 2013 and now thanks only to Landon there are now 4 coins. I purchased both of the Landon coins for myself long term because they were (like a lot of the silver in the sale) a bargain. Based on several years of ICCS reports it is remarkable that upper end Canadian coins are not priced a lot higher than they are based on the numbers.

Quote: your stuff will be famous on a different level. I wish I was born in 1895 rather than 1995. I know you did not start it specifically for him but its just nuts how much I see that name, Landon Landon Landon. You gotta understand, I'm very frustrated about this whole Landon thing, makes me feel like I'm in a bad time to be a coin collector and the fact that things went the way they did, . Sorry, I wont bother you anymore!

Not a bother Normic. We can't pick when we were born but I will tell you that you are living in a much better era than old Landon did. those were some tough times. if you keep at it you will have the ability to amass a great collection in your life. Do not let the Landon hoard get under your skin. It will take its place in Canadian numismatics as it should due to its importance. Believe me there is lots that will be available over the next 20 or so years and you will get to be a part of that.

Hey Pacific,
If you get a chance would you mind looking up how many total 1952 Arnprior silver dollars exist in the pop report? The trends in my 2012 Charlton show that for VF-AU this variety isn't worth much more than any of the other 52' varieties but I have yet to see one.
Thanks!
