The auction results may not give you an indication of its desirability. Only a few 1904-O slabs are VAM attributed. They may appear more frequently in collections than in general trade simply because it is one of the easier VAMs to attribute.

Sorry chute, ive been busy today with a huge collection I am now suddenly the custodian of... see my other thread. Auction photo question was because I thought maybe the 41 is seldom seen and that's why the vw listing is so vague. If that was the case I thought mine could be good to update the 41 page.

Only looking for attributed VAM-41's, by way of forming opinion on rarity and value. I don't figure this one to be value-added. Cascade, spend the money on John for a Varslab and ask him to shoot whatever he feels appropriate for pickups and he'll arrange to get them in place. He is, if anything, a better photographer than me and will be easily able to meet the standard. Your images here are also up to the job, but he might find more/choose better priorities. You've picked excellent bespoke pickups for the VAM, and this coin will remove VAM-41 from the "needs more research" pile forever. One coin at a time. That's how we're going to get there.

Yes, that thread is of a VAM 41. I am usually confused, so this time is no different. Now I see there are two issues. As for the rarity, I would say it is less common than average but not rare. The other issue is pictures. Now I get it.

Cascade, yes the auction link is to a VAM-41. http://www.greatcollections.com/Coi...-MS-63-TonedSometimes it is more difficult to attribute a coin from an auction picture than when in hand. (A topic for another time.) But compare this photo with that of the auction coin, and you will see why I like lots of pictures. Sorry John1 if this is the sort of "too many pictures" you were talking about.

Fortunately, 1904-O has been studied in depth by Alan Scott, who produced a guide to this date, so it should not be difficult to confirm attribution on this one. He shows many pick-up points in his guides, including fine scratches and die cracks on both sides of the coin.
