SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 04/20/2015 09:33 am The images are large enough to come up with a rough grade, but not to authenticate and that is always the first concern when evaluating an 1893-S. The coin presents the appearance of VAM-2 with the far date and tilted mint mark, a good thing, but certainty is not possible. Report this Post to the Staff

SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 04/20/2015 11:32 am Morgan dollars can be collected by variety, and these are called VAMs after the gentlemen who started the codification process, Leroy Van Allen and A. George Mallis. The 1893-S, being the low-mintage Key to the entire Morgan series, has only two designated VAMs. Only a single obverse die was paired with two reverses for the entire mintage.
