I just inherited this American Eagle Set commemorating the 200th anniversary of the first strike at the Philadelphia Mint. But it looks as if the box top has gone missing. Do you think this will effect the value. I have come across some empty packaging on ebay. Just wondering if it would be worth buying.

There are those who want all of the OGP materials intact, which effectively limits your target audience. How it affects final value is uncertain, but probably affected more than the typical proof set would.
That being said, if you can get the OGP material for a good price, it may be worth doing.

Twenty dollars is such a small percentage of the overall value of the set. It it is probably a worthwhile investment. Check completed sales at ebay and other auction venues for sets with and without the OGP; see if the difference is appreciable.

Oh, and if you do end up getting the OGP you should post in the OGP thread and blow us all out of the water. https://goccf.com/t/198653

That's a nice set. If it were me I wouldn't care about the OGP and would send it in for grading to your favorite TPG.

If you do decide to purchase OGP for the set via ebay or another source, make sure that in addition to the box you get the paper COA that came with the set. Without it, the set is not "complete" to those who prefer original packaging. I remember when you first posted about this set in February ( https://goccf.com/t/197159), I hope you are enjoying having it in your collection.

@Foxwoods - thanks for the link. I hadn't heard of at least two of the sets listed there.

I agree with previous comments. Get the OGP wherever you can and make this set whole again!
