I am a collector and really enjoy looking at rolls, etc. for known and unknown varieties. I read about the 1982 Lincoln DDR in Numismatic News a few months ago and began my search through several rolls that I have. How many have been found? What is the value of the coin in mint state?

Hi Longmeadow

Welcome to the Forum !

As far as I know there has not been another found ,,which makes placing a value on a mint state example fairly hard to beyond an estimate .

Here is the link to the topic as it appeared with the discovery of the coin .

It looks like a DDR to me, you can see the splits, especially on "one". I would wait for the experts to chime in, but congratulations anyway!!

Is it a small date zinc?

That's it! You have the second known example, and it looks cleaner than the first one!

I'm kind of amazed at the lack of response since the images were posted...this is BIG news! This piece, if not cleaned, is the finest of two known examples of a MAJOR doubled die..

Very Nice! Congrats Longmeadow...guess I'll have to start taking a harder look at the 82's. I'm suprised a second one was found so soon and that no-other 82 DDR has been found since 1982.

Congrats on the great find. These must be really rare for that dramatic of doubling to have taken this long for someone to find it.

Hello Everyone:
Thanks for the responses on the 1982 DDR. One question that I had was in regard to having the coin professionally graded. Could someone suggest the process for doing this. I have read about different grading services but I find the process to be very confusing. I know that I should also have it attributed properly....correct?
